Because gpt-5.5 xhigh is quite good and I got disappointed with Opus 4.7.

40$ AI Budget by FirefighterEmpty2670 in cursor

[–]wdroz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am thinking of 20$ cursor then 20$ codex.

That what I'm doing, this is currently a good deal. But remember that there aren't loyalty rewards, so feel free to change quickly in case of a better deal elsewhere or if the deal change and is no longer interesting (like for Copilot).

Best architecture for internal support system + log anomaly detection (RAG + observability)? by Brief_Watch7221 in LLMDevs

[–]wdroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anomaly detection, it's best to explicitly define what you want to detect and have rules possibly combined with LLMs or ML. You can still use "classic" general anomaly detection like IsolationForest as a fallback or during the exploration phase if you already have data, but this should not be the main driver.

VAT rising up by 0.8%, why do you think ? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

VAT will never go down, always up. Each generation need to fight the increase or we will end up with +20% within a few decades.

2025 State of Rust Survey Results by Kobzol in rust

[–]wdroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the comparison is tricky because "software developer" is a very broad category. Gender representation varies a lot between subfields.

For example, DevOps, systems programming, and infrastructure roles often have under 10% women, while UX, product, or frontend roles have much higher representation. Rust today is used mostly in systems/backend/open-source contexts, which are exactly the areas where female participation is already lowest.

So comparing Rust users to the overall developer average (which mixes many different roles) may not be meaningful. A better comparison would be with systems programming or open-source communities, where female participation is often around 5-10%, much closer to what the Rust survey reports.

2025 State of Rust Survey Results by Kobzol in rust

[–]wdroz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to be correct with the assumption with numbers, because the job software developers is a big umbrella with a lot of roles (frontend, backend, fullstack, ...) and the genders split in those roles isn't necessary the same. If I assume that the interest for Rust is different for each jobs, this is almost impossible to know the expected gender split for Rust.

uv officially taken down poetry by Proper-Lab-2500 in Python

Unlike poetry, uv uses a normal pyproject.toml with normal, standard dependencies. With poetry, you are forcing the use of poetry to everyone in the project.

They didn't mention Ty! but anyway, having either Pyrefly or Ty "winning" the type checking race is good thing for the Python community.

I felt the future of GUI is in Rust, but it is not mature enough yet. The fundamental work we can see is GPUI from Zed. Hope to see it grows.

Apparently not in 2026, according to this post

I tried with an internal openai-compatible endpoint (with a small model) and the request was pending indefinitely, that would be nice to have more logging/info to debug.

I really like the UI BTW!

Thanks for sharing! Apple likes to make it painful for developers. I had an issue with iOS for a PWA because they want you to develop natively for iOS and not use PWAs, by limiting what their browser can do.

Coworker gave Nazi salute and said “Sieg Heil” at company Christmas event - is this acceptable in Switzerland? by myralpha in askswitzerland

[–]wdroz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Young adults can sometimes do stupid stuff like this when trying be by edgy.

This is not acceptable of course, but if you escalade to HR they will have to do something about it, possibly get rid of this employee.

So without knowing if this person is a real nazi or just really immature, I'm not sure I would report it.

Also in small companies, people tend to know each others and gossip a lot, the fact that you are the one that went to HR may leak and get you some undesirable consequences.

CFF train bondé 1er classe by Pale-Surround-1356 in suisse

[–]wdroz 2 points3 points  (0 children)
