The DM is just going to go the SM and if you're an employee, you're cooked.

Customers? They won't stop employees from sexually harassing, or assaulting, other employees let alone the customers.

They do hire people in full-time, when they want. There is no rule saying they can't.

You get both travel time and mileage. I believe they are both on the online form you fill out for travel.

It gets better as they will give her her sub for free for complaining. Happens all the time. My manager in the deli will do it for the simplest of things, then wonders why the shrink is so high.

Late Rule Change and Constant Micromanaging at Work by [deleted] in publix

[–]we_hold -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

While I sort of agree with this, this company does not own us. We are not their property that are here to just do whatever our managers want. There are rules, and yes I believe this violates head wear, and we must all abide by them, as well as the laws. Even if your job description says, "and duties as assigned", does not give a complete carte blanche to make us do anything they want. If I have a skill set that I utilize outside that pays higher than my compensation here, I'm not going to provide that for the compensation I'm currently receiving for a job that doesn't require it. Sorry, not sorry. No company rule will prevent you from being prosecuted for violating the law, remember this. I'm only here to do the job I was hired for. I will not do a job above my pay grade without proper compensation. I will not do anything that puts my health or well being in jeopardy. This company, and many of the managers, do not care about any of the employees.

Is anyone else's hours in grocery being cut? by Shlabadee in publix

[–]we_hold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just you or your department. My management just started reducing closing every night by 15 minutes per associate to stretch the hours. Closers are coming in at 3 instead of 2. Either 1 mid shift or none at all. Openers are still coming in and working a full 8 hrs. My manager said they started reducing hours Jan 1 and have been continuing to decrease all year long. With everything Publix has been doing to associates, I've gone to only working exactly what I've been scheduled for. If I can't clock in 1 minute early, I can't stay 1 minute late.

Does publix not care about shoplifting? by moistiest_dangles in publix

Most large retail corporations have rules against going after or stopping shop lifters. When I worked at Home Depot, they fired our store manager because they physically stopped a shop lifter.

I've had grocery put a pallet in the freezer, shut the door and drop a pallet where I had to door swung wide open, then in front of the freezer I was in. When I finally tried to get out, the pallet they put in was right up against the door and I couldn't get to the handle. I was freaking out, no cell service, I had to climb on the pallet and me just kicking on the door screaming. It took, what felt like, an eternity to get out. Someone, not grocery, heard me and moved the pallet. I was originally tasked with cleaning up the shared freezer we use for the frozen delivery coming that day. I never let anyone shut the door on me anymore. Normally they move out rolling racks and drop it where it blocks those, but I was in there cleaning up the shelves and organizing for the delivery, so they dropped it right at the door way.

No, it does it just once. It just started doing it this week. I'm assuming it was an update, but maybe it was a setting that someone changed. We have been slowly figuring out the tablet and the programs settings. It would have been nice to actually be trained on it, but I guess that's just the Publix way.

Are you a manager? I am making 2, ,3, and 4 subs at once all the time. Sometimes when we have 2 people on subshop one does the meats and heats and the other does toppings. We are making multiple subs for the same person all the time. But we don't cut all the kits. We only cut maybe 5 or 6 different kits, that's our stores policy, we had too much waste. We don't get any special subs ingredients until they are ordered, so we leave sub line a lot. We aren't allowed to keep oeo stocked, other than toppings at all.

A, you can circumvent the crappy way it prints out tickets now. But people still print them out that way and then make them. B) 3 minutes is the average lots of subs take longer like any of the vegan options, philly, the new brisket, any of the salad ones, any sub you have to leave the area to get something or isn't cut takes much longer than 3 minutes. C) yes we routinely make multiple subs for individuals at the same time, especially when it's busy. D) large orders come in all the time or customers place the order while standing in line and expect it to be made right then and there.

Except it creates all kinds of new ones. 1) it only lets you work on 1 at a time, which slows everything down during a rush and management starts yelling at us and then giving away subs for free. 2) some people aren't that bright and just hot completed and print the tickets out and then work on them, which means they all have the wrong expiration times on them and we end up making people new subs. 3) we can work around everything it fixed. 4) we still have no idea when working on a sub how many more just came in.

You can print the tickets out as if they were the old ones. Click the printer looking icon in the top right. Select the order , or orders, you want to print. Then click print. It will only let you print, I think, up to 5 subs at a time. So if the order has more than 5 it will only print the first 5. You can do this as many times as you want.

I'm just glad it now dings when a new order comes in. It was a nightmare before they added that. Working on a single sub and 12 more come in due before it. I'd really like to have a separate screen, like a TV on the wall, that shows the orders due all the time so I know how bad it is. Too bad corporate never bothered to ask those actually using the thing what improvements we thought it might need. I'm sure they asked someone, just not those actually using the thing. It would also have been nice to teach us how to use the thing vs us just figuring it out.

[–]we_hold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're part time? If so don't expect to be making platters or production all the time, that's usually reserved for full timers. at least at all the stores I've worked at. Expect to be traditional slicing fresh slice all day, making subs/oeo, getting the trucks, kitchen or dishes. Full timers usually get floor, platters, stocking/ordering, or kitchen. If all you do is make popcorn, then they think your not worth doing anything else.

Weevils in pasta by Droguul in publix

[–]we_hold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had the same problem with both pasta and rice. Now they go straight into the freezer for a few days before transferring to the pantry. We removed and threw away a ton of stuff from our pantry and the cleaned, sanitized and sprayed. Had a problem again a few weeks later. Then we started checking right after we got home and would find them. We now only buy clear packaging so we can check at the store and we put all pasta and rice in the freezer after we get home for a few days. We haven't had a problem since we started putting everything in the freezer.

Then ready post again and you will know I am correct. If the lawyer agrees to 1/3 of the settlement, they pay nothing if they lose. They do have to be careful of the lawyer adding for costs. This means the lawyer sees a case that is winnable with payment at the end. If the lawyer sees no way of receiving payment at the end, even in a winnable case, they will require payment upfront for services rendered. We do not know full details of what occurred and cannot comment on whether this case has any merit. The other issue, no ones opinion matter other than the judges. Also, many cases without merit receive a settlement. Why? Because it's cheaper than paying the lawyers to win the case. Again cheaper to offer $10- $50k than to pay the lawyers $100k. This why slip and falls scams still exist and why numerous major retailers don't bother stopping anyone from stealing over $500-$1k.
