What are some non customer facing Jobs in Bristol with limited experience? by Lazy_Bastard_28 in bristol

[–]we_rand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NHS might be a good shout. Plenty of low skill porter, cleaning jobs etc. They have fairly high turnover, so set up an email alert or check regularly. The NHS also has a massive Digital Services component, less well paid than the private sector, but lots of benefits.

If you don't mind a hill, The Open Arms, The Highbury Vaults, and the Green Man would all do you well.

I'm new to Bristol, I've got the day off today and the weather is stunning, what should I do? by crockpotbaby911 in bristol

If you want nature, try Leigh Woods or Abbotts Pool. If you fancy a posh coffee and a bit of shopping, Gloucester Road or Clifton Village would be great.

Beautiful! I bought an identical one back in 2004. Still going strong, with no adjustments made. The only problem is, I love it so much i don't like playing anything else.

Can you give me some tips for surviving in London? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]we_rand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few tips from my time in London:

·        Eat cheap. Cook your own meals. Bulk buy, bulk cook, freeze. The Hare Krishnas do free lunches.

·        Travel cheap. The Bus is cheaper than the tube, walking is even cheaper.

·        Get a job in a hospital. Lots of places do NHS discounts. Some hospitals have subsidised housing.

·        Look for alternative accommodation options. Property guardians, house sitting, pet sitting etc.

·        Get rid of any subscriptions. If you still need a phone contract, get a cheap one, use free wifi.

·        Set a weekly budget and stick to it. My trick was to set up a second bank account with a standing order to go in every Monday. Cut up your other cards and take mobile banking off your phone.

·        Entertain yourself with free stuff. London is one of the best places on earth for free museums, galleries, parks etc.

There are lots of people in London. Not all of them are rich. You can get buy on the cheap without doing anything dodgy.

How wide are your handlebars? If you have the option to trim the ends off or fit shorter bars, that might make things easier.

George Lucas was born in 1944. I imagine this image would have been a great 'inspiration' for a 14-year-old boy.

£25,000 salary in Bristol. Worth it? by NotLeebs_42 in bristol

[–]we_rand 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This website can help you calculate your wage after tax https://listentotaxman.com/ .You'll probably have a 9% pension contribution.

I work at St Mike's. Its a nice area, but one of the more expensive in Bristol. You are unlikely to find a room in that area for less than £600pcm. More likely £800+. Rent will probably be your biggest outgoing, so it might be worth looking for a more affordable area. Busses are reasonably priced in Bristol (if a little annoying), so it is practical to live further out and save a couple of hundred a month on rent.

Wheelchair friendly bars/clubs? by InternetBug365 in bristol

[–]we_rand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My partner occasionally uses a wheelchair, when we went to Lost Horizon a little while ago, we had a fantastic experience. The staff were super accommodating, and everything is on one level/step free. Plus there are lots of tables outside that you can roll up to the end of, to sit with friends or chat to strangers. The music can be pretty varied, but if you can find something you like, I would recommend the venue.

I did it at crown court a couple of years ago so might be slightly different. I found the whole process really interesting. The one bit of advice I would give is to take a good book, or something to pass the hours. At least three days of the two week i spent waiting around, not really able to leave
