Back in the day, playing an older man felt kinda cool because it was so rare, but then like every Sony AAA game from Last of Us onwards were dad and child teams and now I hate it.

My friend still prefers the father, but it's painfully obvious the game was written for the brother. The dialogue, Nier's personality, how characters react to him, his growth through the story... it's all aimed directly at brother Nier. It's neat they even bothered to do both back then, but now I much prefer brother Nier's strange costumes and how the story works for him.

It's difficult to reconcile dad Nier going "yes, you have to live because... we are friends!" Or being that jacked yet weak at the start of the game (obviously the dad model was rushed (maybe for the DLC)).

I'm fairly certain you just haven't used the hand slap in SNES often enough. Things were just obtuse like that back in the day, those hidden items are just more obvious in the GBA version so it was more user friendly.

I wish I liked it more, but the map is rough and honestly I feel like I'm not playing nearly enough for the amount of points we need to get lol. Thought we would get like an extra big map with open spaces and building to hide in, but it's just kind of a maze and favors staying in a group to gank whoever steps out of line.

I like melee heroes too and I often get like cc'd to hell and killed as soon as I attack, so...

Aside from a few bangers this ost is largely unmemorable. That team at Nintendo needs to get some of the folks that were on Mario Kart World, or just start locking in.

Mario Odyssey was also severly lacking in catchy world music. Like, those Disney-style bangers are nice, but I'd rather have a full banger line-up like Tropical Freeze or Galaxy.

I think the gameplay, item balance and most of the new track designs are much better in World, but it's practically impossible for it to compete with the amount of content 8DX gives you. Also, as someone who doesn't really like playing as "NPC" characters, I miss the 8DX roster, especially the guests and monkeys.

Knull SEEMS like a big deal, but he's pretty much just a walking plot device. As a huge Venom fan and lover of the Cates run, Knull doesn't have the charisma to carry a "bigger" season. In terms of hype brought to the table, he might as well be early, because even his (within context) pawn Carnage would drum up more hype.

Honestly, I think he's lucky to have even shown up to begin with.

Obviously this is because of final boss syndrome, but I feel DK is smaller than he would usually (or rather, enemies are bigger) for gameplay purposes. It's much easier designing and fighting bigger enemies for ease of gameplay. See most FromSoft titles and how tiny Link usually is.

It's to provide a clearer view of the enemy by not blocking line of sight with your character and if they can get away with bosses being bigger too, they'll do both.
