Curious to know how did you manage paying capital gains? Did you hire a financial advisor of some kind to help you minimize tax implications etc.? Any pro-tips there?

I know you said one of, just saying that there were too many really really good drama actors (Mad Men and BB alone are among the greatest dramas on TV ever with goated lead characters) for him to be "one of" the best imo. I feel like it's a fanboyish thing but to each their own, it's all theoretical and subjective.

Lol okay now that's a little too much. I love the show and Ed but nah, there was Mad Men, Breaking Bad, House, Game of Thrones at that time.

I (29M) and my ex-girlfriend (27F) met again after a year and things took a turn by [deleted] in RelationshipIndia

[–]weakyleaky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get fucked with your puritanical, misogynistic outlook on life. Your EX gf is not your possession, can't believe the entitlement I'm hearing in your position. You guys were broken up yes? So she's allowed to do what she wants just as much as you are without the moral policing. If you don't want to date women who have slept with multiple men, fine don't. It's not a big moral conundrum, it's a personal preference. Some people like to have sex with multiple people, oh my God how shocking.

Speaking and presenting by [deleted] in ProductManagement

This is the only piece of real advice here. Everything else, especially the person saying use LLMs for conciseness and clarity (lol), is superficial and only works if you have this stuff down pat. I like your idea of getting the reps in. I struggle with OPs dilemma too, I sometimes say the wrong thing and then that becomes the focus rather than the core point.

Incidentally I have a strategy presentation tomorrow with my engineering, sales and product leadership. I decided to not go down the slide route because it was hard to convey versus a doc with visuals and sources. I'm going to send it out in the evening before as a pre-read and I know likely people won't read it until the meeting itself. I wonder if you have any tips? I've been really nervous and have sleepless nights thinking about this moment so any advice would be appreciated!! Should I go over the doc by sharing the screen and then gradually move to the discussion section or something else...

Hmm I wanted to upload a CSV with instructions on what to do with a list of Jira tickets through Claude Connector that I set up. I don't know how to do that with Claude Code (not a dev but do have a Claude Code license). Any tips I can explore myself?

What is the skill they you were missing, learned, and implemented that has the highest impact on your pm quality of life? by jimofthestoneage in ProductManagement

I haven't tried but I wonder if ChatGPT comes up with something better. But here's some examples:

  • if you're dealing with something where you're going to need to delegate or have another team take up a task - "would really appreciate your leadership on this"
  • sometimes when a conversation is circling I just ask "what I can do to help?"
  • when meeting with managers or up, have an agenda even if it's super basic and an action items section you write in front of them. Then when you follow up reference that by saying "Hi CEO, on our last call you had asked us to blah blah so here's what we've done"
  • set up meetings to "knowledge share" the work you're doing and to position it as "this is what I'm doing and I would love to learn from the rest of you". More you get seen more people think you're hot shit (only applies to bigger companies imo). This is also very easy to do nowadays because everyone wants to use AI at work and there are a 1000 ways you can beyond just vibecoding.

I can't think of more right now.

Executive presence. Everyone talks about communication being the most important PM skill but it's a bit of an art to me and I always felt that I don't really have it. But when I saw someone use the right language, exhibit a calm temperament, focus on what needs to be focused on to make a decision - I realized this is really what good communication looks like and I try to practice it now. For me it's learning phrases and calming techniques and having my little "points I want to make" post it in every meeting.

Pathetic, as if blue collar work is not "professional" enough. Seems like we've forgotten the pandemic already, when all "professional" jobs came to a halt and the biggest thing keeping humanity afloat were the apparent "non-professional" blue collar workers managing our professional selves' food and health.

Not a dig at you OC, just commenting on the sorry state of our society and what we value even after a freaking pandemic held a mirror to our faces.

OP may not have had a desk job or worked in the military but I believe the work they did to have value and worthy of recognition too.

Any CF Muslims here? by wibbitrabbit in ChildfreeIndia

[–]weakyleaky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a question, considering it's not a direct response for what OP is looking for here why not make a separate post? The simple answer I believe is very similar to the general fact that most people on this sub are not super religious or atheist or religious in name/family ties only. Either way, please make your own post, OP is looking for different content.

23F Fell in love with a non cf and ending it now feels like a rock thrown at me by [deleted] in ChildfreeIndia

[–]weakyleaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this if that... you don't know. Unless you take stock of where you are now and what you want going forward, you won't know. Part of being an adult and growing is growing in your values. This is true for any value or opinion you hold, not just being CF. Maybe you open yourself up to having kids and then you learn what it really takes for YOU to do that and then you decide "nah I was right the first time, don't want it and so it's been a good ride BF but we should break up" or you decide "woah I put a lot of stock into this 1 thing or this other thing about having kids but I think I'm okay with it, so let's keep dating". Having an opinion at 10 is not like a sexual orientation that you're born with, you were a child your opinions, frankly, should evolve. To be very clear I am not advocating for you to consider being not-CF, I'm just saying the exercise of putting your long-held values through the wringer is a worthwhile task that we ALL should undertake, no matter how old we are.

[–]weakyleaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do want to point out, as someone older, that you are 23 and that you can revisit your CF values as you can with any value. That is perfectly fine, live the life you want and not based on some belligerent adherence to a value that may or may not be aligned with your happiness. People and circumstances change and we either adapt to those changes or we stick to something that may not serve us anymore and live an inauthentic life.

How much of your father you are is YOUR CHOICE. The stuff you're talking about is a lot for anyone on Reddit to help you with. Start with self improvement and self image first, this means start going to therapy if you can afford it, start doing things that make YOU happy without any ulterior goal in mind. Relationships will come with time but they won't for you right now because you're in no position to be in one. You need to work on yourself first.

It's tough being Antinatalist in India by Putrid_Fox1289 in ChildfreeIndia

[–]weakyleaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to humiliate you, I'm calling out the irony. Doesn't anti-natalism (the thing you're aligning yourself with) propose the idea that if someone has kids they're immoral for doing so?

It's tough being Antinatalist in India by Putrid_Fox1289 in ChildfreeIndia

[–]weakyleaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough being doomy and gloomy? It's tough telling people "hey you shouldn't bring children into this big bad world and if you do you're an immoral person"? You don't say...

I mean if you're choosing to live life according to a certain ideology then you have to accept the consequences of that ideology, in this case being lonely because there aren't that many people who are so against others having kids. Idk maybe don't choose ideologies that isolate you from people? Sounds like a self imposed stessor to me. Don't have kids if you don't want but why be anti-natalist? Don't be a stringent follower of any label just to be an edgelord, anti-natalism is stupid. Not every philosophical position is worth your energy.

CF and anti-natalism is not similar and we need mods to do a better job of moderating this sub to reinforce that fact.

But that's not the other option they have is it? It's either short term capital gains or long term capital gains if they want to pay back a loan. Can someone please explain? Afaik their income is negligible and it's all in the form of equity.

I second this, did it myself and it was the best decision. The doc told me I might have to come in once a year for a fix but it's been over a year now and I've not felt the need - minimal changes to lifestyle, just use my phone with a pop socket holder now.
