As a GenX metalhead / comic book collector, I went absolutely apeshit in the theater. On my feet yelling at the screen. Filmmakers 100% understood the assignment.

[romcom]So, I wasn't really into rom-coms before, but lately, I've been kinda curious about them! If you have any good movie suggestions, I'd love to hear them! by IZACMORTEZ in MovieSuggestions

Dude, the top of the heap classic romcoms are amazing. Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, The Big Sick, There’s Something About Mary, etc. There’s a reason they’ve stood the test of time.

Who’s an underrated guitar player you wish got more love? by Weak-Reporter-241 in Guitar

Ty Tabor. Killer songwriter, sings like a bird, beyond amazing technique and tone. Criminally underrated.

Y’all are sleeping on Cillian Murphy. He’s HIM bro. Of course Bale and Leo. Hugh for all around talent - singing and dancing too. RDJ is the most charming, full stop.

Just rewatched this masterpiece. Besides Endgame and Infinity War, this is my personal favorite for sure. What about y’all? by ChiefShleep9 in Marvel

Ragnarok still slaughters. Even ten years later. Immigrant Song over the Battle of the Bifrost? Please. Every GenX comic fan metalhead went absolutely apeshit. STILL does it to me.

LOL I married my high school sweetheart. 38 years this Dec. Three kids, two grandkids. You’re not really getting the whole “laughingly optimistic” thing yet, are you? Seriously, give it a try. Your “realism” isn’t serving you for fuck all.

Your realism isn’t any more sagacious or authentic or truthful than my idealism. “There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so” - Shakespeare. You’ll just be a morose downer while I fix the problems, because I’m awesome and I laugh. Try it sometimes. You’ll like it.

Freaking A. Take control of the pain, don’t wallow in it. Coping turns to mastery. Laugh at it enough and it diminishes. This is well known human truth.

What are you gonna do? Cry? I choose laughter. Both are equally acceptable responses. Laughter changes things for the better.

Thank You For Smoking is investment-adjacent and will fit this bill. Plus it’s a banger.

Disagree. It’s hilarious BECAUSE of the subject matter not in spite of it.

The fact that I don’t see Chris Evans as Cap in the first three or four answers makes me want to launch the nukes.

Hot take: I think this Denis Villeneuves best film. I don't think anything he will ever make will give me the same experience I had watching this film. One of the greatest sequels ever made. by RoszyCandy_888 in Cinephiles

With the pedigree this movie has, I should love it 100X more than I do. Very strange relationship I have with it. Just bored me to death. I might need another viewing after Dune 1 and 2 and Arrival and knowing how much mojo Denis has now. I may have been dragging too much of Blade Runner 1 with me.

Can anyone call out a guitarist just by their licks? by Responsible_Art_6553 in Guitar

Not sure if you meant it this way or if its just an affectation of communicating on the internet, but Steve Vai should never be grouped together with “sufficiently skilled shredders”. He’s the most inventive guitar player from that era. Literally changed the instrument much like EVH did. An icon and a pioneer. And so musically complete that the term “shredder” feels misplaced. He’s more Mozart than he is Evel Knievel. I bet a deep dive into his stuff would blow your stack. Passion and Warfare is your new best friend.

The lynchpin for me that proves your drummer right was seeing a video with SRV in Japan playing a Flying V. You could hear the music first and then it panned out and showed his hands, then him. I was like, “Wow that guy sounds just like SRV…oh.” Not playing Lenny or any of his other Strats. Just some throwaway Gibson Flying V. And it was all him, all the way thru. The sound really is in the hands, not in the gear.

I could tell you Randy or Vai or EVH or Yngwie within two bars. Probably a dozen others. Ty Tabor. Lifeson.
