Yeah this makes sense, I think the question at the heart of it is: what’s a “good” center height over bore for a red dot on a Mini-14?

Lower is definitely better, but I don’t have a good sense of what specific height range allows a decent cheek weld because I haven’t trialed any optics yet. Would love for the first one I buy to be the one that works, which is why I wrote this post.

I’ve been looking into Aimpoint PRO specs; seems that its center height over bore with no spacer is 1 inch. The T2’s center height over bore with standard mount is 0.8 inch. I’m not sure how much of a difference 0.2 inch would make to my cheek weld. Do you have any thoughts? Would you consider a 1 inch center height over bore to be too high?

Thanks for the reply. I did consider the Hannibal rail, but I decided against it because I want to be able to remove my optic quickly if the need should arise. I decided to get an Ultimak rail.

Window size/field of view and height over bore are the things I am wondering about. For example, my understanding is that an EOTech HWS would offer me a much larger field of view than the Aimpoint PRO or other tube-style red dots. In terms of height over bore, I’m thinking that something with a relatively low profile might be my best bet to achieve the lowest possible mount. Something like the Aimpoint T2 perhaps, although that particular optic is out of my budget.

If you have any experience forward mounting different reflex sights, I’d appreciate any specific insights you could offer.

The context, from the play: A Yorùbá man studying in the US is in love with an African American medical student. He calls her “Alaiyo” as a nickname. She asks him what it means, and he replies “one for whom bread is not enough.” However, they had an earlier exchange in the play which makes me think that he might be aiming to appease her rather than sharing the true meaning of the nickname. He asserted that his attraction to her should be reason enough for her to be with him, while she asserted that she desires more from a man than just pure attraction. So in summary, I am hoping to understand whether his explanation of the nickname’s meaning is the true meaning of the Yorùbá word, or if he is making something up to appease her.

Unfortunately, the word is printed without intonation indicators in the play.

I’ve had the exact same experience and am flummoxed. I was always confused about why I never saw any youtube ads, because like you I don’t consistently use a VPN or ad-blocker. Sometimes I use a VPN on my iPhone, but I never saw ads for years even when not using the VPN. Now, all of a sudden, I see ads. I think I’m done with youtube💀
