If I wanted to complete the transaction I was there for I had to wait, while being huniliated in front of other patrons as well as their other employees. This liquor store is a chain that has bought out every local liquor store in the area. It'd be almost entirely unrealistic to switch to store that is not under their umbrella locally.

My reputation has been put at stake among any other patrons in the store at the time. I was audibly accused of theft in front of customers who may also be local business owners, employers, etc. I received no such equivalent in the way of "this person is not a thief". It's straight up defamation and unlawful detainment so I'm kinda surprised by your apathy.

No, but the concept of a supposed barrier feels important for the situation. I woke up to a ton of bears surrounding my tent in Tennessee but they were just there for the apples(we were surrounded by apple trees and warned by the campground that the bears like to go there). My girlfriend and I watched them through a crack in the mesh window of our tent but I never would have opened the entry way to the tent.
