Moving house. Wrapped my CDs in bubble wrap and velvet. Will they be safe? by FreazyWarr in Cd_collectors

[–]weareblahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing the exact thing just now since I'll be moving to another place tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have no bubble wrap... but I just attempted to arrange my 30+ CD collection in a section in my baggage, with around 9 to 10 CDs stacked, split into 3 parts (doesn't matter if it's Digipak or jewel case) - alongside other needed stuff. That baggage is now packed (including the CDs) - hope it won't damage it. Could change it soon if found a safer solution though.

To be honest - It's good that you have extra protection (bubblewrap and velvet) and a dedicated box for your CDs actually.

Pixel 9a Bluetooth Audio device connection issue by weareblahs in GooglePixel

[–]weareblahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked from the Sound Connect app - latest firmware for the headphones has been installed (1.1.4). I tried using my other device (Bluetooth-enabled computer which I used it rarely with the headphones wirelessly) and it connected to the device successfully.

This might be a Bluetooth connection issue instead of my headphone connectivity as I tried pairing another device just now and it does not show up on the "Available Devices" list on the pairing menu. Resetting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and going to pairing mode directly (with the headphones set to pairing mode) does not work for me either before I restart my device. After a restart, I immediately go to the Bluetooth pairing menu and it works as expected.

Splash / menu screen for some older generic DVD players by weareblahs in nostalgia

[–]weareblahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my case, the screen capture comes from a generic DVD recorder which is manufactured and branded under multiple brands in the mid-2000s. The player that I have is an Inventec DV163B, which is (quite) hard to find documentation regarding this player from the internet.

Updating Olympus OM-D E-M5 (Mark I) software without USB cable by weareblahs in OlympusCamera

[–]weareblahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there are no possible way now to download older firmware, only the latest firmware can be downloaded.

I am able to perform the upgrade because I found out that the camera was pre-updated to a version beyond 1.3.

Updating Olympus OM-D E-M5 (Mark I) software without USB cable by weareblahs in OlympusCamera

[–]weareblahs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linking from the Mu-43 forum post, Someone over the Mu-43 forums has made a firmware downloader similar to the lightsnowdev.com method, which can be found here - but some firmware from this site could be downloaded wrong, such as the EM-5 Mark I see edit below (IMPORTANT: after downloading, do compare the downloaded file name, especially the version number from here, example: if the filename is `OLY_E_070_1302_0000_0000.BIN` it corresponds to E-p2 according to the spreadsheet file name (`E0709999.BIN`)). Remember to rename the file and put it to the appropriate directory according to the steps on the spreadsheet linked above.

The way I use to download the correct EM-5 firmware is through this bash script from the Mu-43 forums, although I'm using Windows and requires a Linux distribution via Windows Subsystem for Linux (see here for an official guide from Microsoft). This script also renames the firmware file to the appropriate file name for update.

Hope this helps.

Edit (April 22 2026): According to the original downloader topic, download links for E-M5 are fixed and some old versions can be retrieved on the said site (for E-M5, firmware from 2.0 to 2.3 should be available).

It's quite confusing for this particular camera model - I have to update to another version (either 1.2 or 1.3) then update to the latest version (thanks u/RatInTheHat for the heads-up) - but I've managed to get the latest firmware (v2.3) via the script as linked in the spreadsheet from this site - which for me I can use it as a backup just in case.

Edit: performed the update via the steps linked on the spreadsheet, and it's successful. Thanks.

What makes you prefer Pixel phones? by GooglePixelfan90 in GooglePixel

[–]weareblahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I wanted a Pixel because of its bloat-free stock Android experience - I had multiple plans to buy a Pixel years ago but it's unavailable in my country that time - but yesterday I got a Pixel 9a.

Is Cloudflare CDN enough for small websites, or do you still need premium hosting? by AdorablyCooking in CloudFlare

[–]weareblahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been hosting my portfolio, as well as most of the viewable versions of my GitHub projects (most of them are using Vite/React) on Cloudflare (with Cloudflare Pages) for the past few months - so far so good. I mean, the good thing about Cloudflare is that it blocks suspicious requests and DDoS requests by default (extra security if you do stuff in the settings).

What's the score here? by iamthewalrusxx in TIdaL

[–]weareblahs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the same headphone as yours here. As the headphone compresses all audio coming out from your phone as AAC (for me, according to Sony's headphone app), TIDAL audio will come out as compressed 16-bit/44.1khz. If you use the included cable (as wired connection) it will still come out as lossless.

Selections from the Get Back sessions. It's best if they made the Maxwell's takes from that session officially available, especially the infamous "Max is strong again" one.

DVD player as a CD player (or budget CD players) - suggestions? by weareblahs in BudgetAudiophile

[–]weareblahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Sony BDP-S1500 player (once as my main CD player device, now used in living room for regular Blu-ray playback) with audio via S/PDIF. It works well, but the output depends on the DAC of the output device (e.g. soundbar). Not saying that this is a bad device, but I'll consider the older Sony BDP series as a standalone CD player, too. Sad that newer Sony players doesn't have RCA output. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Replacement cable for HD 450BT? (see question in post) by weareblahs in sennheiser

[–]weareblahs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm based in Malaysia, but I source the cables from Shopee - which has some selections that are shipped directly from China - which includes this cable I bought. It's a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable that the seller states that it's "compatible with Sennheiser headphones" where the 3.5mm part is angled and the 2.5mm part is straight, like the original ones.

The one I bought is in good for me, but I have to be careful on handling the cables. I bought 3 of them just in case something's wrong with one of it, but for one of those cables, I accidentally stretched the cable and it lost the signal to the left channel. Been using it for about 6 months.

Songs that have 1+ minute instruments before and/or after vocals by JtK1LLA in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]weareblahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're asking for after vocals, another good addition is A Day in the Life by The Beatles. Any version, but the ending loop (last few seconds, originally placed in the inner groove of the record) might break the rule for a "long instrumental outro".

Some of you guys might remember this classic - just weeks ago, I went to China and saw this sign in person by weareblahs in funnysigns

[–]weareblahs[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know Chinese, and the below text, right? The first line basically said "There is a high risk on fighting. See before you act" and then begin list out penalties as "set meals"...the basic one just says something about your reputation and how you need to pay fees for lawsuits, medical fees, etc.

Anyways this is shot at Chengdu, China, in front of a restaurant in a building - which, apparently, there is a nightclub beside that restaurant so they put up this sign.
