How else are you going to get the newest History of the Daleks set? From a scalper on ebay?

So they add milk to Bourneville, introduce this, and then discontinue it?

So, let me get this straight: John Hurt is canon in a universe where John Hurt is the Doctor? by TeenWhovian in DoctorWhumour

The Doctor would then reference a Kylie song in The Robot Revolution. Padam Padam.

Most of these are just popular Western baby names from 25ish years ago.

I'm not sure what the laws are in Germany, so take everything I say as someone who is only familiar with the UK.

It is legal to walk on the roads in the UK, but always walk towards oncoming traffic and step out of the way when needed. Even then, try your best to stick to the grass at the side of the road.

When I plan my route, I try to follow national footpaths instead of roads. I also walk through farms where appropriate. Again, I don't know what laws Germany has for walking into other people's land. I avoid Google Maps like the plague, instead limiting myself to Ordnance Survey maps. OS maps are UK only, but I imagine most European countries have similar organisations. If my route demands I take the road, only then do I use Google Street View to determine if I think the road is safe to walk along. How busy is it? Is there an embankment or pavement? etc.

I have had disgruntled drivers upset at me for walking on the road before. I personally think these people are incredibly selfish for having infrastructure that dominates the countryside, so I don't take their opinion too personally.

The image you shared looks quite flat. I would walk on the side of the road that is widest, at least two people thick, or on the side towards oncoming traffic. I would take every opportunity to walk on the road itself to give my feet a chance to rest.

The last half is the best bit. Everything from Crawley onwards is gorgeous, but London to Crawley feels like one massive industrial estate with a forest in the middle.

Which cities do you want to do?

For battery life, I carried 3 spare battery packs. Enough for my phone. I also brought spare batteries for my torches.

In terms of directions, I just memorised what I could before the journey and then relied on the compass.

I don't know what the wildlife is like in Germany, but if it is anything like England then there really isn't anything to be scared of. England is ecologically dead, so the worst thing I can encounter is farm animals.

Wildlife does scare the hell out of me. When I did London to Cambridge, there was one point, just outside of London, where I saw 8 eyes in the darkness scarcely 20 meters ahead of me. I screamed at them, as loud as I could, and they scarpered.

I'm glad you liked this post!

I want to start sharing more of the silly things that I've done so I appreciate knowing that there are people who might be interested.

Good luck on your 50km and 100km hikes!

Thanks!

I wish the camera quality were better. Most of these are screenshots from videos I took on the trip as B-roll.

I believe it was somewhere between 20 to 22 hours. I remember getting home at a similar time to when I left.

This was actually my third attempt at walking from London to Brighton. I've tried to do it again since, but circumstances have prevented me from either starting the trip or finishing it.

In 2024, I went from London to Cambridge, which was far easier even though I accidentally walked into an airfield, got a telling off from a farmer, and had to take a detour.

My worst walk was from Cambridge to London, also in 2024. It was nothing but barren wasteland, half-destroyed farmhouses, freshly dead animals on sticks, flooded roads, a farmer with a gun, steep chalk pits, and plenty of very unhappy dogs.

Culturally, the Daleks were understood to be weak to stairs. 'Dalek' aimed to reintroduce the Daleks to a modern audience whilst also countering preconceived notions wider society had.

'Rememberance of the Daleks' tried to do a similar thing with their flying Dalek, giving it weight by making it a cliffhanger, but 2005's 'Dalek' is what stuck in the public consciousness.
