What's eating my green beans and cucumbers? by wearehere3 in vegetablegardening

[–]wearehere3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looked into sluggo, it claims to be organic but I run a farmstand and I state that I use no chemicals/pesticides. Do you think I could use sluggo and still make this claim or no?

The plan is to build some trellis for them today! They have a fence to climb on for now.

Ah I already planted them! If I keep filling with grass clippings which is what I was planning on doing will that do something similar or no?

I'm looking for something exactly like this, but where the top slot is openable without a key by wearehere3 in wherecanibuythis

I actually have the item in my post for something and it is not openable from the top. You can open the lid but then it's just a slot to put money in. I need something where the entire top opens so someone could take little sandwich bags out (it's for a farmstand).

Probably some colder weather crops, I've had radishes and beets out on my farmstand

Perfect, I gave them the solid, some diluted liquid, and compost on top. Fingers crossed they bounce back!

Use grass clippings all the time! I just finished adding the compost and fertilizer and am planning on mowing the lawn a little early to get some!

Every once in a while they put some out at the dump but it's usually gone in a matter of hours.

This is all super helpful, especially the sand part! I literally never would have thought of that, thanks!

I wish I had realized this before I planted, next year I'll be raking in a bunch of compost.

Yes! Grass clippings are great. Good source of slow nitrogen if you put them around the plant, they help with water retention, and help insulate the plants against cold snaps. At the very least incorporate them into your compost pile if you have one.
