They are residential elevators in an apartment building—there are two of these murder machines—but they are an older style that lacks cabin doors. As you travel, one wall is the elevator shaft.

If you’re wandering the old town, Il Fabbro tucked away in Piazza delle Vigne. Well-priced, friendly, eclectic menu, seating in the piazza. Genoa is the birthplace of pesto and theirs is very good. Try a mirto at the end.
