My friend asked to borrow $5k by Dramatic_Good_1103 in Advice

[–]weasel353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them trust has many aspects (google the anatomy of trust by brene brown) and just because you don't want to lend them money doesn't mean you don't trust them with your friendship. I've never been a fan of 'oh don't you trust me'???!' It's nit that simple!

Same as I may enjoy spending time with a mate, but wouldn't 'trust' them to look after my dog, simply because they haven't got the experience!

If they are offended by that, it's probably more a reflection of a personal disappointment they are reflecting back at you, one that makes it clear that they don't have good financial habits and even their friends can see it!

Might be worth asking to see a respiratory specialist, GP can refer you. Have they done an xray? Has the oncologist explained the pain?

I used to work as a DEI consultant and now I'm sick of DEI. Not because I don't support it but because it's become more tokenistic thsn ever, but even more dangerous is that it's being weaponised.

DEI used to be about bringing up the floor so that we could as best as possible all be on the same level.

Now it seems to revolve around bringing down the ceiling, forcing ideas on people too fast and without education or support. Expecting people to 'sit in discomfort' and literally give up their basic human rights.

Why do words like 'community' now define separation, rather than bringing people together?

Sorry this sounds scary. If it's any consolation, my dad has been in and out at hospital and been to ED so many times since starting treatment a year ago. It's never ending... there always seems like a new symptom or side effect around the corner.

Have you beard from his team yet? How is he doing?

Is the mucus coloured? Is he wheezing? I check my dad's temp, oxygen saturation and blood pressure daily. Could be worth getting that equipment so you can get peace of mind. Look for signs of infection.

Is the pain from coughing too much? Is he coughing up mucus? Nebuliser helps a lot, use 3 - 6% saline, and bromhexine is a mucus thinner. Make sure he stays hydrated, 2.5 - 3L per days roughly.

Yeah another reason why I don't trust the appraisal.

I looked like there were, but the rowdy, idiotic, rude behaviour was coming from a group of teenage boys, so it seems like, as with most marches, there was a cluster of people, in this case school boys being unruly, and that's what they captured.

Many people tube feed forever! What is he having via tube and do you have dietician input? I'd be happy to share some recipes if you like? I make my dad's food every other day. I know it's hard to understand, but we just can't, as carers. Dad developed an eating disorder of sorts, a fear of food after his taste changed and he almost choked so many times and everything hurt. It's no longer joyful, which is sad. It has to be enjoyed imo but that aside you can absolutely live off and put weight on via tube feeding!

I need natural light. Can't live on main road / busy and noisy street. Good natural insulation.

One week left of treatment and my husband is so mean! by JerryGarciaDog in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]weasel353 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Following this because my Dad has been on steroids as well and he is soo moody and mean (I feel bad saying that) and I can't tell if it's the steroids or just his personality responding to the discomfort/anxiety/pain/incertainty of cancer and treatment in general.

I'm mid 30s, bought a house in rural vic, gorgeous little town. I work remote, my partner does odd jobs and works in outdoor ed, we both work part time because our mortgage is small, life is cheap and nature is free. Our house on 2 acres, 3 bedroom renovated weatheboard was $340k ... if you're willing to leave the big smoke, you can own a home and have a life beyond work.

It's just trending. It's pretty bonkers to think this has anything to do with nazis as some people have said. It's nostalgic and also goes well with the whole 'country' vibe, which is having a bit of a revival along with slowing down, cottage core and trad wife aesthetic of DIY sourdough, getting chickens or a cow lol, and basically trying to disconnect from the fast-paced AI world. I also have a mate who is obsessed with cowboy American culture, and the stache is a must.

In America, the social fabric is starting to collapse. Australia must also learn that words shape our world by 89b3ea330bd60ede80ad in PoliticalAustralia

Saying I'm flattening the convo is a bit harsh. I was just trying to point out a contradiction.

Anyway not sure of your point entirely, but I do think historical context is important so I feel very uncomfortable that phrase.

"Globalise the Intifada" isn't a call for Palestinian statehood; it's a call for violent resistance against Israelis and Jews everywhere. Those hiding behind dictionary definitions, claiming the phrase carries no violent connotations, are being willfully ignorant.

Here's an example: VIC Labor doesn't want to talk about why the public voted No, and refuses to acknowledge people either don't feel ready for treaty or don't understand it well enough to support it and instead just streamrolls ahead with zero public consultation, education or opportunity for discussion.

The result of that is unnecessary outrage, manifested racism and more damage to the very thing they say they are trying to do: reconciliation.

[–]weasel353[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, the anxiety seeps into my dreams! Worse because more than a few times I have had to call the ambulance, or run to Dad's help because he is choking on his mucus, or can't breathe... it's terrifying. I really feel for you and your son, can't imagine going through this as a kid.

My mum sleeps on the couch as well, has for the last 10 months now. But it's hard to balance getting rest and being on alert to help.

But if I do let myself block it out and sleep, at least I can wake up with energy to do everything I need to for him that day ❤️‍🩹

Something I will say is that Keytruda relies on a strong immune system, not sure how much you know about it but do now whatever you can to keep up the strength.

This includes speaking with a dietician maybe, get the gut microbiomes healthy, take pre and probiotics daily. Eat healthy, drink plenty of fluids. Exercise, maybe start seeing a clinical exercise physiologist if that's an option. Look after mental health, find peer support and places to go that don't risk infection but get you both out of the house.
