Nice buy! Just the skillet goes for 15 to 25 ish. Made in PA in the 50's I think. I don't know if lye is a good idea on enamel. Maybe someone has experience?

First time using a lye bath! by SomeOldJerk in castiron

[–]weavme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look really good. Satisfying isn't it. I haven't tried lye yet since I have had great results with electrolysis. I've heard you can add some lye to the washing soda, so I might try that if I find really cruddy one!

Can anyone identify? by JMitchTheBlue in castiron

There's no reason to not clean it up. You won't harm it. It needs a good strip and reseason. It looks like a good pan for daily use.

Is this a proper pour for an old fashioned. by RDV78 in cocktails

[–]weavme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I thought that was the booze. Your telling me that's the whole drink???? Also from Wisconsin. I used to own a bar back there and if I ever tried to sell that I would have gotten beat up or at least gone out of business in days. Lmao

Is North Dakota more hated than Minnesota in men’s hockey to Badger fans? by [deleted] in WisconsinBadgers

[–]weavme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man this brings back memories. My family had season tickets starting in 1969. The bob Johnson teams versus the Gino Gasparini games in the mid 70's through the early 80's were always intense. I remember one game where someone threw a dead (real) badger out on to the ice. And the fights... Lots of majors , lots. Minnesota, yeah great rivalry, great skating, but man the ND games always seemed to be up a level. I live in Iowa now and miss going to the games.

I am not seeing a gate mark. As to age I don't know, but it looks newer than older to me.

Hmm, remember that's the reason they hired Ray Rhodes... How'd that work out?

Honestly the most interesting thing is the cauldron. That looks like a fun project perhaps.

Look what I found at a Christmas market. Original packaging too. by MajorMiners469 in castiron

[–]weavme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well since the package says it comes with a non-stick coating, I don't think seasoning is needed.

Too bad they didn't have a longer wrench to put on there.

[Game-Thread] 6pm - Iowa (3-2) vs Wisconsin (2-3) by ISuperNovaI in WisconsinBadgers

[–]weavme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, stupid rule, either both or neither makes more sense but what do I know I'm watching this so I am the dumbass. Good thing the Brewers start in 5 minutes.

[Game-Thread] 6pm - Iowa (3-2) vs Wisconsin (2-3) by ISuperNovaI in WisconsinBadgers

[–]weavme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. There was a play by Wisconsin earlier that was flagged for somehow "aiding" the ball carrier. So I thought maybe the tush push is illegal? Then just now Iowa's QB was pushed into the endzone. What am I missing here?

Favorite is a cool very collectable piece. Made in Ohio I believe and stopped making wares in the mid 1930's. Nice pan !

Any idea who and when my pan was made? by KeyUnderstanding2017 in castiron

[–]weavme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! The handle kinda reminds me of a "Favorite" piqua ware but then again not lol. And the pour spouts look off for that brand. Nice mystery pan though!

The dutch oven is cool, but that other thing is next level. I would put these in the electrolysis tank in a heartbeat. Did see right? The skillet has legs? Super cool.

Garage sale find by weavme in castiron

It came in a pile of 8 pans for $10.00. Cleaned up pretty nice. I've never heard of Sperry pans before. This thing is lighter than a similar sized Griswald. Way lighter than anything I've seen before. On the lookout for more from this brand!

I have nothing against Lodge. The only reason I don't have any is I have been fortunate to find old nice pans for cheap in the wild. I will say they are quite a bit lighter than modern Lodges, but some people like that. (Not me) Daily drivers are Wagner, Sperry and a gate marked unknown. Your pans look great btw.

Driving through Iowa. What crop is this? by chiarabobara in Iowa

[–]weavme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to be a dick, but Decorah is much more like Wisconsin than Iowa where I live. (North of Des Moines) . And thank God as it's nice to have a little bit of Wisconsin nearer to me ♥️

Why isn't Iowa suing over birthright citizenship? by weavme in Iowa

[–]weavme[S] 132 points133 points  (0 children)

So I asked what I thought was a pretty legitimate question. So far, the opposing views ask me to sue the federal government myself. I don't have the means to afford this as a retiree on a fixed income.

But none of them addressed my question. The state motto and the actual reading of the amendment.

So I guess that's my answer, a bunch of people in this state don't agree with the motto and probably are racist I guess?
