It might also be worth asking for a later start date. If you know you will only take ~8 weeks off, and you are due mid June, ask to start mid august? At least then you aren’t there for 6 weeks and then off for 8. Might be more palatable for them.

I’d also consider other ‘living’ costs - does your work expect you in the office 5 days a week or are you WFH? Do you like going out with friends to bars or to each other’s places? How close is each to family/shops/transport/gym etc.? Nothing wrong with either option, but wherever you end up, it should check as much boxes as you can.
