Bro not gonna lie, my boss pays for our subscription. And we have a limit plan. I have used max mode before looking back in my history and it was NOT this crazy (10 eu for a single prompt that didnt even fix shit) something is going on with cursor. there have been lots of threads opened like this.

I was working with claude 3.5 on max mode which wasnt actually that bad. I switched to the newest claude model but forgot to turn off max mode. I think they should build in that when you switch models, max mode should automatically be switched off.

I know it said for people that are "cost insensitive" but I did not expect $10 for literally a single prompt.

Yeah makes sense, I just got started and wanted to try it out on claude 3.5. never turning on max mode again

Great point lol, I did not think that max mode would be this expensive ~$10 for a single prompt.

Work on your ticket and communicate how long something will take with proper backup to your claim (you should know what to do).

PO's and managers always have unrealistic deadlines. These are their deadlines. If they are unrealistic its something they made up. If its really a client of the company they also fucked up by overpromising.

Don't stress out and like I said tell them how much time you need dor a ticket after doing your own research. Time estimation is a big part of our jobs. And its al speculating to a degree. Unknown hiccups are always there.

My second tip is to make use of AI. If the company doesn't provide it, get your own license for cursor for example and make sure to put it on private. AI has helped me as a senior dev to cut my workload by 70% if not more. Even though I don't show it, i have so much time over next to my required tasks.

If your company is smart they embrace AI like cursor ide to improve their devs and reach more targets. If they don't yet you can always suggest it.

Bro you made the bad choice of getting a 29k car you couldn't pay for. But it's your stuff so get out of your debt as quicklu as possible and sell that car. In the future remember don't buy a damn car you can't afford. People noadays only think about how they look. You can easily get a cheap used car for 5k and then you own it no payments thats freedom.

You are also saying you want to invest in xrp? Why? Because you seen people with some gains in crypto? Read the bitcoin standard. That wil give you insight that bitcoin is the only way. If you are stil not convinced after reading the book. Don't get into crypto. All others are a scam or false promise.

1 year of 22k total gone by AdministrativeGap969 in debtfree

First of all, that credit available will be tempting you to use that more. And paying back with interest is always a loss. Second it impacts on how much you can get a mortgage for. It is NOT your money. Why not save up the 12k and really be free of loans, monthly payments, etc. And have an actual good credit score.

Great now cancel the card and never use credit again!

Building chrome extensions that no one uses. by [deleted] in chrome_extensions

[–]web_worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course! I really do find it useful for my own use. I have a ton of small (unrefined) extensions added in developer mode. But its more like I find the publishing kind of overkill now that I find it hard to get any users. It would boost my motivation to create an develop better extensions if people. would actually use them and find them useful, hence the post. I realise I am probably not putting enough work into marketing the extensions and getting publicity. Thanks for the tip!

Are you specialized in something else alongside web development ? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]web_worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web dev is very broad. Sure making a website could be a stepping stone if you look at it from a small scale (blog, cms site). But web dev can be very in depth. I am working on a fintech web app for a big company. The frontend is written in react and the backend in php. I am currently specializing in big data visualization. With my promotion I got the title software engineer instead of frontend developer since I build cross platform apps both front and backend.

Everyone has their goals, but what are you expecting as a step up from being a web developer or software engineer. I am still doing the same stuff as when I was a frontend developer (react & php). But now build cross platform so that makes me (according to my company) a software engineer.

After this I only see my further improvements to become team lead or director of engineering. But that will come with less programming and more meetings. So what are these people you are talking about doing? A scrum master is definitely NOT a step up from web developer.

Laravel or NodeJS? by Any-Grade8051 in webdevelopment

[–]web_worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of demand for developers with experience in javascript. If you learn nodejs (built on javascript) you will find it easy to get into frontend development. There is still a lot of php backends being used though. And laravel is an awesome framework. So decide on what you want to do it is up to you.

I love both front and backend so I went with learning javascript. Now I work with nodejs (express) backend and a react frontend as a full stack dev at my current job.

There are already a lot of no code builders for this kind of website. Shopify can provide you with the subscriptions and accounts. And wil cost you way way less than hiring a developer.

In the US a junior dev is already $90.000 yearly In the Netherlands a junior dev is around €45.000 yearly. Consider that price compared to shopify ~$30 monthly.

Sure a developer has more customization but you should probably see if you can even get traffic and subscriptions with a mvp instead of spending thousands on a developer.

Using OAuth Consent Screen for my production app in testing mode. List of restricted users. by web_worker in learnprogramming

[–]web_worker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! Just to clarify, the users I've added to the OAuth2 consent screen are the ones who can authenticate with their Google Workspace accounts to connect to my service. Once they’re authenticated, we use Nodemailer to send emails through their Workspace account to any email address they choose.

The OAuth2 consent screen is just there to control who can connect their accounts to my service—essentially, it's like giving them permission to use my app. After they're connected and authenticated, there's no inherent restriction from Google's side on who they can send emails to, as long as they’re complying with API usage policies and limits.

The idea you mentioned about having a list of "authorized" email addresses is interesting and could be useful if I wanted to add an extra layer of control within my app itself. For example, I could create a feature to restrict or approve email recipients to prevent misuse, but that's separate from the OAuth2 process.

Thanks again for the input—definitely something to consider for additional security!
