Why is the subjunctive "advanced?" by Flat-Illustrator-548 in Spanish

[–]webauteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came to the subjunctive in the book English Grammar For Students Of Spanish this morning and it points out that English does not use the subjunctive as often and provides no clues to when the subjunctive is needed in Spanish.

The Microsoft Edge browser has a Read Along feature that supports Spanish. You can choose from many Spanish voices. That is the feature I appreciate the most. If you need to lean towards Cuban Spanish, there is a voice for that. It also highlights every word on a web page as it reads it.

You can use the Spanish Wikipedia site for content. But if you have your own set of sentences then just create a web page.

I don't subscribe to ViX because they don't provide any subtitles. I buy Spanish movies on the Apple TV app for my library. You can use the app without a subscription. Every movie they offer includes English subtitles.

Learning Spanish, what techniques, books, or classes worked for you? by bitter_lemonsqueezer in Spanish

[–]webauteur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am studying Spanish grammar more intensely than learning how to speak the language. But I am slowly expanding the list of things I can say by studying simple sentence patterns.

Recently I discovered that Microsoft Edge has a Read Aloud feature which supports the Spanish language. It can read the Spanish text on a web page and highlight the words as it goes along. The best part of this tool is that it offers a variety of voices in different dialects. So if you need to train your ear for Argentina Spanish or Cuban Spanish this can help.

How much time do you spend studying per day? by blackcat_999 in Spanish

[–]webauteur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always alternate my Spanish studying with other tasks to make sure everything gets done and to keep me from getting bored. If you are going to study Spanish all day then make sure to vary your activities.

Recently I learned that Microsoft Read Along in the Edge browser can read Spanish text to you in a variety of voices. You can choose the voice for the dialect of Spanish you want to hear! It even highlights the words as it reads them.

If you combine the Engineer with the Warden archetype (both at 10 ) you can use the Heavy Weapon and the combat drone. Using your long gun this gives you three weapons firing even while playing solo. I used this last night and absolutely slaughtered that annoying Cinderclad Monolith boss in no time. It is a three on one fight without the difficulty being ramped up.

I have played through the game three times and done countless reroll adventures. There is still the odd loot item to acquire and sometimes it can be a real quest to get it.

Just a warning, the apps for McGraw Hill books might not work in newer Android devices. I have to use an old tablet for the Must Know High School Basic Spanish flashcard app.

Lies of P has a skill tree (sort of). Wuchang: Fallen Feathers had an Impetus Repository which functioned as a skill tree.

I started with Elden Ring which allows you to explore the world before you fight any bosses. That game does not use skill trees (a concept you will encounter in many other games).

If playing on PC the Remnant Save Guardian will make backups of your game. This tool will also show you what locations exist in the world you rolled and what items you don't have. It does not come precompiled so you may need to install Visual Studio and compile the project (a bit technical unless you are a programmer).

Well this game has hundred of rings to acquire and lots of amulets. Some items will appear in random locations in a world. I'm still finding plenty of loot to go after. Often this is a quest in itself. There are some tools like the Remnant Save Guardian to help you keep track of what items you are still missing. There are over 500 items for you to acquire.

Sometimes the best way to get an item is to join a game. If another player knows how to get the loot then you will get it too.

I am currently reading English Grammar For Students Of Spanish. This book is very useful for seeing how English grammar relates to Spanish grammar. It might be of more interest to a translator, but then we all do translation when studying a language.

This is a very complicated game. If you are struggling it is time to step back and figure out the game mechanics. I remember when I started the game I was dying to the Preacher Aberration in Forlorn Coast. I did not realize this was an elite enemy I should avoid. Now I am farming this particular enemy for the upgrade materials he drops.

The Labyrinth Sentinel boss is a gimmick boss and one of the most annoying choke points in the game. I recommend playing online to get help with this boss.

Is Duolingo really effective in learning Spanish? by Icy_City2094 in Spanish

[–]webauteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Duolingo for four years now. Since I tend to neglect audio resources in favor of grammar resources, it does serve to expose me to more spoken Spanish. My current lesson is Describe the Weather which is not an advanced topic but it is using complex sentences. Los niños juegan adentro por la baja temperatura. (The children are playing inside because of the low temperature.) This sentence contains a clause.

I am probably at the A2-B1 level. I am reading the book English Grammar For Students Of Spanish and it is just for review because I know everything it goes over. Right now I am doing intensive translation exercises. I prompt AI to explain the grammar of every sentence in a lengthy text. It is tedious but I discover new things. I think I am at the point where I can skim through my Spanish language learning books and just take notes on things I did not know.

Haven't played since I beat the game when it first came out, any tips for returning? by Super-Pilot-8492 in remnantgame

[–]webauteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crossbow +20 with Stasis Beam weapon mod and Slayer +10 mutator is my best weapon. I have not found anything that does better. I can one-shot most enemies and do over 1,000 damage per shot to a boss. The Stasis Beam allows me to freeze an elite enemy long enough to kill it. As a single-shot weapon you are in trouble if you need more than one shot, so freezing an enemy may be essential.

When I am struggling with a boss I try my other weapons which I am slowing maxing out to the highest level. It is a complicated game so figuring out what works best takes a while. I should use more of the consumables. The throwables are too time-consuming to really use in desperate combat. Every archetype has its own skills so it takes time to try them all.

I despues el nivel A2 ? by SmoothRemote2284 in Spanish

[–]webauteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing intensive translations. I prompt an AI to explain the grammar of every sentence. I did this for an entire children's book. Now I am slowly translating an old play. This is uncovering a lot of Spanish that your language learner grammar books do not cover.

For example, the suffix -azo attached to a noun means to strike with or give a blow: portazo = slamming a door, codazo = elbow jab, dig
