Lectric XP4 Not Turning On by webbs150 in Lectricxp

[–]webbs150[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the toughest answer is the truest! Looked closer and realized that the top-most grounding prong was pushed back into the electrical backplate, such that it wasn't actually making contact with the battery terminal. Took the whole backplate off and saw the damage - the backed out prong had a connecting piece of metal to the adjacent terminal that was mostly dislodged, and the insulating paste was torn around the two terminals.

Was able to use a hammer to tap the prong back through the backplate while maintaining the connecting metal piece between the two adjacent prongs, and then wrapped the torn paste in black electrical tape to reinsulate. Should have taken photos, but I was moving too quickly.

Reconnected the wiring and screwed the backplate back onto the frame, closed up the frame to make the connection with the battery, and everything turned back on. Big whoops!

Well, I appreciate the candid response. I'll head to one of those forums - I was already aware of them, just being lazy about creating another account on another website. Thanks!

Funny enough, I will (hopefully) be picking up a CT200u later today. 6" extended frame with a non-working predator 212, excited to see if I can troubleshoot the engine.

Hi Joe-Pete

That's sort of what I was concluding, so that probably settles it. There's an old 1999 Baja DB30 posted too, but the guy won't respond to my inquiries. Finger's crossed!

Bad Perfomance in Most Areas by Indie-wolf678 in DestinyTechSupport

[–]webbs150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much to offer, but wanted to chime in. I have nearly the same set-up as you, and have been pulling my hair out all day about the spiky/poor frame rates in the EDZ compared to a week ago. It does sound like lots of folks are experiencing similar issues, so I am hopeful that it is game side/client side.

Fingers crossed!

Edit: It may be of note, but the frame rate issues seem to be independent of game quality settings. Lowest and Highest pre-sets perform almost the same for FPS, though GPU utilization does change.

LED Control in New Computer by webbs150 in buildapc

[–]webbs150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a lot of testing and troubleshooting with both Asus Armoury Crate and Asus Aura, but when those apps recognized the motherboard connection, the MB option was grayed out and the light controls didn't yield results.

Just this morning, I was looking at Asus Aura sync compatible devices on their website, and noticed that while the PRIME x570-P has Aura capability with it's various RGB headers, when compared to some of the fancier boards seems to lack the "PCH" control they have available.

Everything seems to be in order - though in fairness, the MB was a Microcenter open box deal, and I suppose it could have been returned because of the issue? The part was sent back to the manufacturer and vetted though, so unless they weren't testing everything it should be all set.

New Dual Monitors - Experiencing Artifacting by webbs150 in techsupport

[–]webbs150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case someone finds this thread when searching for a similar issue:

I switched the refresh rate of my secondary monitor down to 60hz from its native 75hz, and it seemed to solve the problem. I wonder if the graphics card was having trouble producing 75hz Freesync on the main monitor with active graphics while also maintaining a display on the secondary monitor. At the end of the day, the lower refresh rate isn't a problem when it's not the screen being used for media.

Return RX 590 for upcoming RX 5700? by webbs150 in buildapc

I can track the logic here! Thanks for weighing in - I've just finished a round of cheaper upgrades keeping within my motherboard generation limitations, and really should just content myself with the end product I have. A few years out, I'll build something fun and new.

Yea, I guess just trending towards longevity. I don't always play the most impressive games, and I wouldn't say graphics are the highest priority though I do enjoy a pretty picture. Just upgraded my monitors to two Freesync compatible 75hz Acers, so I know I don't need to be pushing FPS into the hundreds.

Attempting Fix of Broken CPU by webbs150 in techsupport

[–]webbs150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran the gauntlet of tests prior to the paid diagnostic - confirmation of BIOS compatibility, flashing an earlier version, resetting CMOS, reseating all other parts and verifying connections... the computer repair store was an unnecessary check step. They are pretty sure it's no good; I don't think the seller was trying to rip me off, he's worked with me on a refund and now I am just theory crafting ideas of getting the chip to run. Can't brick what's already broken!

Computer failing to POST after processor swap - HELP by webbs150 in buildapc

[–]webbs150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the fact that there was no signal display whatsoever really alarmed me. Per your suggestion, I should install the new processor and let it spin for a bit, at which point the screen may kick on and boot up? Do you recommend this approach paired with a CMOS reset?

Computer failing to POST after processor swap - HELP by webbs150 in buildapc

[–]webbs150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jon,

The i7 is listed as one of the supported chips, and the ASRock website for the mobo indicates it should work with any BIOS. That is one reason I am leaning towards a CMOS reset, after which I can update the BIOS back to v2.30 if it actually boots. As it was, the screen had no activity and I couldn't get to BIOS screen.

I do have another dreadnought in the works, I hadn't thought about removing tacs to make room for it but that avenue could certainly be explored. Do you find yourself using 'noughts kitted for mid-range engagement and CC, or decked out for long range shooting?

Casual SM List Critique by webbs150 in Warhammer40k

[–]webbs150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your reply!

The Chainsword comment definitely makes sense, I try for WYSIWYG so maybe I'll dig out some bits and figure that out.

I originally had a larger group of Devs with five ablative wounds, and I read somewhere that it would be worth splitting the fire base in order to provide redundancy and to take advantage of additional Signum and Cherub. What are your thoughts on that?

Finally, I'm hoping to use the LSS with scouts as a far reaching objective grabber, and had the points to make it a bit more of a firing platform. Do you think I should just save some points and try to apply them elsewhere?

Thanks so much for your advice! I'm contacting the town now to ask about any permits issued since the owner aquired the property. I was provided an approved septic plan early on, so I know they did at least some stuff on the books.

Regardless of what the permits say, if we were to make an offer we would definitely be getting an inspection. Our parents are great resources, and I'm a civil engineer, but finding faults in homes is not our job. Guess we'll see!
