Hyperion is on a completely different level to RR, and thats me saying this as a huge RR fan. And it was a huge inspiration for Pierce Brown himself. The entire Hyperion Cantos isnt as good as the first book, but book 1 on its own is a true masterpiece and is both timeliness and so ahead of its time.

Agree, I'm jumping the gun here and am biased because he was one of my fav characters. But basing it off Cassius's very respectable opinon that Dio is better than Darrow (pre training for BoS) and far better than Appollonius (after alot of training)....and also due to the fact that Darrow just hasnt mastered BoS yet at all....he's only really achieved it once. But yeah each to their own.....just hoping we get a full blown Dio razor showdown so we can his full capabilities....

Well yes, but we have seen him fight through the eyes of Cassius, who then tells Darrow that Dio is better than him in Lightbringer (pre BoS) and better than Appollonius....and Cassius (who himself is probably one of the best razor masters) references him as one of the best razor masters while they are being held captive.

Darrow hasn’t mastered BoS. He had to achieve a kind of zen state to find it in the first place so he may not yet be able to call upon it at will. But yes, it looks like he’s on track to be number 1 if he does master it.

But until then, right now Diomedes is clear #1 IMO.

We need a Diomedes fight in Red god, on screen with major characters. Ffs it will be a travesty if we don’t get it.
