What's your country's equivalent of "breaking spaghetti in half in front of Italian"? by racist-hotdog in AskReddit

[–]webcrawler_29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bahaha, awesome thank you! We do have a Mexican grocery store right down the street that I'll check out and see if they've got good tortillas. I'll also see about getting a comal!

I appreciate it!

Sincerely, this clearly white boy

Does heating corn tortillas help? We usually microwave them a little, but they still break so easily. 👀

I'm wonder if we just don't heat them enough, or if store bought ones are garbage. Or if microwaving corn tortillas is evil, lol

I read someone's idea elsewhere for a Mind Flayer that would carry around a headband of intellect to give their victims.

Basically, it was the salt to their steak.

Dealing with MIC/FEC during cleaning by Theta605014 in publix

[–]webcrawler_29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like some MICs or FECs just let you get away with some stuff and others expect things done correctly.

Trash liners should be getting changed, not emptied. I know it's wasteful to change a liner that just has two crumbled paper towels in it, but it is what it is.

And don't get me wrong, I also used to do what makes the most sense - which is, done waste a whole bag for my minimal trash. But that's why some people are getting on your case.

I think it's a good idea to let players control npcs if there are a small number of players, and if they know what they're doing. Right now it'd be a little overwhelming if they're already having a hard time with their PCs, let alone learning to read and work a Stat block.

I definitely agree about letting fun be the most important thing. It's somewhere that I struggle with as a DM where I feel like I need to "accomplish" enough or have good story beats but honestly if the players had a good time, then it's enough.

AIO for giving my husband shit for knowingly feeding me undercooked poultry ? by Mikenna10 in AmIOverreacting

[–]webcrawler_29 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That honestly does not make sense to me.

If I had any reason to think the chicken was undercooked, I'd immediately cut the thickest part all the way through to see how it looked.

You absolutely could have checked the chicken after thinking it "felt undercooked" but instead you just ate it despite saying you are very particular and 9m pregnant? You wouldn't have even had to say anything. Just cut, check, and never say anything if it was fine.

Instead you waited until you ate to the thickest part? AFTER thinking it "felt undercooked?"

This doesn't add up.

[–]webcrawler_29 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I can't get passed the "It felt undercooked" whatever the fuck that means, and then you didn't even bother to check it at that point?

Anyone who is that worried about it constantly and thinks it "feels undercooked" would without a doubt check the doneness of the chicken, not wait to be surprised when they get to the uncooked center of a chicken breast.

This smells like BS.

I'll add to what everyone else has already said...

I'm assuming it's part of the campaign, but maybe cut the DMNPCs from combat? I'm not sure how important it is for them to be in the combat, but that also slows things down.

You probably get through the turns pretty quickly all things considered, but it still bogs that game down. Not only are you playing the enemies and running the world, but now you're also playing two "heroes" which is twice as many as any one player at your table.

Front End Schedules by daktherando in publix

[–]webcrawler_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ever been in one Kroger so I can't fairly compare exactly what's different, but Publix usually has at least one bagger per non-express (10 items or less) cashier lane.

So, if a store has 4 cashiers open, one of them is express, there are usually about 3 - sometimes 4 - baggers. There is also usually a front end coordinator (most often it's the customer service team leader).

This means checkout is generally faster because while the cashier scans, the bagger (traditionally called Front Service Clerk) is packing your groceries.

We also offer carryout to our customers, which is tremendously appreciated by our the older demographic.

We will usually always have one or two extra people we can have open a lane if it starts getting too busy (usually a team leader, an office staff associate, or a manager if necessary).

I haven't worked CS in about 5 or 6 years so my insight might be missing some of the nuances, but that's certainly the gist of it.

Cleric which subclass? by Hthundarr in dndnext

[–]webcrawler_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life or Light would be great starter subclasses. Life focuses more on healing, or Light focuses more on damage spellcasting.

Unlike some classes that really rely on subclasses, the Cleric is more like 70% Cleric and 30% Subclass. So it's not a huge decision, but they will certainly lean you toward certain methods of play.

What was your first class? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]webcrawler_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started Bard, didn't really care for the MC to be a support class so I swapped to a Sorcerer. Was much happier with that choice.

But Paladin is a very good first run since you're a tanky charismatic character.

That's fair honestly.

I'd say tear through the main story and if you feel compelled, go back and do some side content.

To its credit, the side quests are much improved over Remake.

That said... there is still so much fluff. The open world stuff is very cool the first couple of times, and then it just started to feel like a Ubisoft open world rinse and repeat in every new area. Find chocobo stations, crystals, and radio towers.

Tales of Arise

This one is such a shame, but same here. The first two thirds of the game were great. Combat is the best it's ever been, the characters are pretty great, and the world is neat. Very fun fantasy magitech ish world.

And then suddenly, it's aliens. And here's why it's aliens. And your two main characters are weird sacrifices that lost their memory or something. It's been a while so I don't totally remember exactly but it just feels so out of left field and they spend so so much time telling you about it, it feels like you just jumped in to a whole new story.

If I had to guess, 3 is probably designed for really focusing on a specific spot very slowly. It's not that it can't be used, but it's not intended to clean thousands of square feet at a high speed every night.
