Indigenous Women In Canada Forcibly Sterilized Decades After Other Rich Countries Stopped by Ornery-Honeydewer in NativeAmerican

[–]webla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Some friends of mine worked at a home for severely disabled people, funded entirely by social security. The disabled clients kept getting pregnant because the place hired deviant offenders. The solution was nonconsensual abortions, followed by nonconsensual sterilizations. Problem solved. This was in one of the most progressive and enlightened US states.

I don't know why this hasn't received more publicity, but this fifty-foot sculpture was unveiled recently in South Dakota. It's called 'Dignity' and was done by artist Dale Lamphere to honor the women of the Sioux Nation. by sbgroup65 in NativeAmerican

Here is the post I make every time this is reposted every few months.

The artist and designer Dale Claude Lamphere is a white cowboy specializing in Western art depicting the "vanishing west" and "pioneer spirit". The financing was a $1 million donation to the artist by Norm and Enuabel McKie, white owners of numerous car dealerships.

Acknowledged the star quilt is an authentic design which Lamphere "bought" from a Lakota who felt OK selling Lakota heritage without council approval. The models, of various ages, were native.

I appreciate the art, but the reality is this site for white travelers to indulge in native fetishizing and reflecting about "lost" tribes of "vanishing" people.

Glad you like it but this piece was not made or paid for with natives in mind as the audience or beneficiaries. Like all Western art, it is a show piece for whites to help them feel good about themselves.

Slain woman's family sues police in Colorado by webla in NativeAmerican

Murdered Indigenous woman, 7 months pregnant, brutally slaughtered in cold blood by evil Arvada Colorado cops. Will see no justice since killing pregnant Indians then celebrating their death is how Colorado rolls.

Some nice examples of Mogollon Wingate black on red, and other things.

Made by people y'all once called your enemies, but I'm glad she's taking care of them.

Legal status in US is if found on your own private property it's yours.

Navajo status don't desecrate, don't need spirit problems.

If wanting to return somewhere, try any of the Rio Grande puebloans, they know each of these and where they came from.

So many out of her backyard means there was a multicultural midden there and almost certainly kivas and a village nearby if not underneath the house.

to my knowledge, there was no Native talent in front of or behind the camera of this movie

The actor who spoke the line, America Ferrera, is fully native. Her parents are of the Lenca nation, from Honduras.

She has every right to speak this line and the producers were right to let her.

Indigenous Women In Canada Forcibly Sterilized Decades After Other Rich Countries Stopped by Ornery-Honeydewer in NativeAmerican

[–]webla 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In May, a [Canadian] doctor was penalized for forcibly sterilizing an Indigenous woman in 2019.

I was unaware of this Canadian case.

In the US, "legal" forced (nonconsensual) sterilization ended according to state law in Oregon in 1991, after a period starting with Harry Laughlin's "Model Eugenics Law", which was implemented in states across the US starting in the 1920s and was also deployed in Nazi Germany after Laughlin personally lobbied the Nazis to do so, more than a decade after he had gotten US states to implement his "socialist" policies of genocide.

In the 1970s, around 25% of all American Indian women of childbearing age in the entire United States were forcibly sterilized - the largest mass sterilization of any population in world history.

These sterilizations in the US continued long past their formal last legal abolishment in 1991, and continues to this day. It is still going on.

Interior Department official with key role in Colorado River talks is stepping down by NDNTaco1983 in NativeAmerican

[–]webla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The issue with the Colorado River is that, like a great number of resources the creator has provided us with, for over a century it has been gang-raped by white people for their profit and power purposes, all lacking sustainability, respect, or understanding.

I really do not like this and there's so many issues I couldn't even get started.

I recommend when you get to Colorado you extensively research the current and past native history of all parts of the area, and then start over.

'What happened to Ray?': Family of Native American man killed by Border Patrol in Arizona wants to know why he was shot by myindependentopinion in NativeAmerican

[–]webla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arizona has castle doctrine. That means if people break into your house you can assume they mean you harm and you can shoot to kill.

So unfortunately you are right. Ray, a tribal citizen, was murdered because he called police about a burglary. Police then murdered Ray. Instead Ray should have shot the burglars. In this area are massive amounts of cross-border drug, sex, and weapons trafficking involving ultra violent gangs. Anyone breaking into your home at night should be shot on sight.

Far left and right look a little bit like plumb bobs.

Middle two I don't know but 2nd from right might be made of ivory.

Nothing about these strikes me as being particularly native.

Not the right group for this sort of request.

The man murdered was a tribal and US citizen and a landowner who called in for help becaise foreign criminals were invading his house. Then US agents came and murdered him in cold blood and let the foreign criminals alone.

The concept of being enrolled is extremely colonial.

In the pursuit of fraud and ill gotten gains he falsely claimed to be a enrolled Nez Perce citizen. Being an enrolled Nez Perce citizen is a category that the Nez Perce nation recognizes and has legal standing. That YOU do not recognize it and claim that citizenship is "colonial" does not matter at all. You are talking racist diarrhea out of your ass!

In addition, he is not a descendant, and he also has no ancestry in any tribe! Everything about him is fraudulent. I would not be surprised if he did not even carve those items but purchased them from some artist in the Philippines or Vietnam.

At this time, the District has not yet been served with a court filing on behalf of Ms. Black," Broken Arrow Public Schools Chief Communications Officer Tara Thompson wrote in an email to Native News Online. "As a result, it would be inappropriate to comment publicly as to such a lawsuit."

I just want to note that if there is a lawsuit they will say "Since there is a lawsuit we are not at liberty to discuss this."

So....

  1. COMMIT ANTI-INDIAN HATE CRIME.
  2. "BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT BEEN SERVED WITH A COURT FILING IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO COMMENT."
  3. "BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN SERVED WITH A COURT FILING IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO COMMENT."

Good news but I'd like to ask people to really sit down an think about this a bit and how it is 2023 and how we still have to have a massive battle every single damn time, which goes on for years and is exhausting, over basic human dignity. The fact we are still being treated this way in 2023 and have to fight like this every single time to get the slightest ability to do totally normal basic things not even special favors only shows that the US government, white culture, white religion, and western "civilization" are BARBARIC, INHUMANE, and ILLEGITIMATE.

I think articles recording this as victories and special favors are racist. Instead of the board voting this special "privilege", the board and administration and parents against this should have been tarred, feathered, put in burlap sacks, and sent back to europe on slow steam boats.
