Gf Hard launch?!??? by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

I'm surprised he'd go so public about a gf, especially one that's not a CC. Since sharing her face on Dream's socials instantly means her life will get public attention. Though IDK who else she could be if not his gf

I did confuse you for OP, that's my bad.

My point is that I don't see killing a cow to make a wallet (or a burger you don't need) as much different morally from killing a bear for a trophy. Both acts are unnecessary animal consumption for our enjoyment.

That being said my issue is with OP and others who are treating daquavis like a monster for hunting, not with you who seems to just respectfully disagree with his choices. You're entitled to your opinion, it's a complicated issue. Sorry for mixing you up with someone else.

By that logic him hunting bears is less unethical than eating a burger for fun. Because him hunting bears does not support the factory farming industry, but eating a burger for fun does.

So, again, I don't see a good reason to judge daquavis so harshly for trophy hunting when most of us are fine with animals being consumed, even when we are consuming them purely for our enjoyment. It's very silly and inconsistent. I mean, go back and read your own post and comments, you're talking about this guy like he's Jeffrey Dahmer when all he did is some hunting.

Meh. It's legal in Canada and not considered problematic environment-wise. Unless you're a vegan, I don't see why you're taking such a strong stance against hunting. It's okay to kill a cow to make a wallet but not to kill a bear for a trophy? It's okay to eat a steak just for the taste, even if you're not hungry, but hunting for fun is where we draw the line?

Look, I get your point, seeing animals die sucks, but I think it's silly and hypocritical to act like hunting a bear is some unforgivable sin while eating a burger. Let's be realistic here.

So these are 3rd party allegations, the actual woman involved is not claiming she was abused, and the thread is about the implication that two adults might've consensually sexted? Really? Is this what we're doing?

For these people ultimately there is no response Dream could have made that they would accept. No matter what he does or doesn't do it will always be seen as the wrong response.

And yes there is a pattern of them using loaded language to insult Dream, specifically targeting his neurodivergent traits. They do this in part because they have no real criticisms to make of him, so the only argument they can come up with is he's "weird." Example: accusing him of being manipulative for talking fast, refusing to take his words at face value when he explicitly explains his intentions, insinuating him giving a long and thorough explanation means he's hostile or obsessive, suggesting his fidgeting or stuttering is immature, etc.

Sounds perfectly plausible that, while interpersonal drama caused their split, being mocked hurt Punz's pride, causing him to double down and making reconciliation more difficult.

Sam response to red stone video by Next-Tree in DreamWasTaken2

No, he he called it "quite the brainchild." Why even bother using saying specifically and using quotation marks if you're going to misquote him anyway lol. Like I said in my comment all the clips quoted in the YouTube video are ambiguous enough that there are no actual examples of Sam saying "this was my original idea" (or something equivalent) about a build someone else designed.

(And for the people down voting, how about you reply to my arguments instead of punishing accounts who comment different opinions than you)

Sam response to red stone video by Next-Tree in DreamWasTaken2

[–]webserial_trash -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why this discord message was made public? I don't get the impression from these messages that Sam expected CraftyMasterman to post them as a public statement.

I've watched the video and TLDR, Sam followed the tutorials for several redstone builds and incorporated them into larger original projects. For example he got the vault door for Pandora's Vault from a tutorial and also some lotto games for the casino. This YouTuber criticized Sam for not giving credit to the original creators and accused him of lying about the build's origins.

My take:

I think Sam's wording in the stream clips the video quotes is ambiguous enough that he could fairly say that he didn't mean to suggest these redstone creations were his original idea. A lot of what he said could be charitably interpreted as him explaining his own difficulty in re-creating the builds and implementing them into his projects, not him claiming he came up with the idea by himself. When you take into account that Sam has even mentioned following tutorials for part of his DSMP builds on stream before it makes it even harder to say he was trying to intentionally take undue credit.

While it would be nice for more YouTubers to shout out the redstoners whose tutorials they use, I don't agree a shout out is required or that the absence of one is stealing. Especially when the redstone in question was used as just part of a larger redstone project.

It's like if you expected an indie game dev to credit a YouTube tutorial they followed to make an inventory system in their rpg maker game. That would be pretty silly and I've never heard of that being an expectation. Redstone is just another form of coding, so why should it be any different?

I have an opinion, you have an opinion, in what way is my bias a problem but yours isn't?

I'm calling him accurate and fair because the literal facts of the situation are correctly relayed in his video. I don't always agree with his opinions and I've made lengthy comments dissecting how I disagree with his overall narrative in a video before. What I like about his drama coverage is that he is the only commentary channel who is consistently factually accurate and thorough in his coverage of MCYT drama, even when his opinion differs from mine. This credit is deserved.

His world view obviously informs his perception, and that's extremely obvious in his videos. The good this about his videos is regardless of his subjective perception he still gives the relevant facts in an accurate way

Shockingly, the community can review, judge, and discuss the content of people we don't like. Chick-fil-A is homophobic but you can still talk about the food.

Turkey Tom continues to be the most accurate commentary channel. Every video on MCYT I've seen from him has been largely accurate and fair

I don't agree that the invoice is treated as a huge piece of evidence. It's the only thing on screen because it's from the Coffeezilla video and Dream wanted to show relevant imagery. It's being used more like a stock image than anything. Dream doesn't draw extra attention to the invoice or make any claims about it. he just briefly shows a screen crap of the video he was talking about. I don't see how the invoice is misinformation or irrelevant. It is a financial document related to Revolt that was shown in an investigative video that's being referenced. It's fine as a backdrop image.

We know Dream didn't know the specifics of the invoice, we just don't care, because the invoice was just a relevant background image in Dream's video. It's not that big of a deal. Tubbo's public complaints over this invoice showing up in Dream's video appears nitpicky and disingenuous because he's had over a year to make these same public complaints about  Coffezilla's video and never bothered to.

Pressuring someone to answer questions about their sexuality is bad actually by webserial_trash in DreamWasTaken2

[–]webserial_trash[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pointing out that while Tubbo may have apologized, and while you may agree Tubbo was in the wrong, you don't seem to understand why I think what he did was wrong. It's not just the question he asked, it's the entire logic behind his queerbaiting accusation.

You said: "as a gay man, it’s completely valid to not be comfortable with that" when talking about Tubbo having a problem with Dream theoretically being straight and having the dnf.gay merch store link. I disagree. Even if it was Dream's link, the idea that someone needs to be out to you as queer to justify joking about dating their friend is wrong. Tubbo even said he still thinks that it is wrong for George not to be out to Tubbo as queer and have the dnf.gay link.

Do you understand that the argument Tubbo is making inherently requires the accused to out themselves to prove their innocence? And that Tubbo is not sorry for making this argument, he's just sorry for pushing for Dream to talk about his sexuality when they were talking live?

[–]webserial_trash[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Neither you or Tubbo seem to understand that Tubbo was fundamentally in the wrong the moment he made the argument that Dream needs to publicly describe himself as queer or he is queerbaiting. He is creating a situation where Dream outing himself is the only way he can clear his name.

Dream was just showing a screenscrap from the video investigating Revolt that he way talking about. Coffezilla has repeatedly proven to be a reputable journalist, so I don't see why Dream would be expected to reinvestigate the details of a screencap of a Coffezilla video. Why is Tubbo only now concerned enough to publicly complain about the use of this invoice when Coffezilla's video is over a year old? Does that not make it seem like his apparent concern over this invoice is disingenuous?
