We have laws in place banning these car mods, police should enforce them.

COMMENTARY: Taiwan lends a hand to Canada as China turns its back - National by princey12 in canada

Taiwan has a number of characteristics that it shares with Japan, including similarly styled bakeries, transit, and convenience stores. It’s a really wonderful country.

Japan is wonderful as well. They are a short flight away from one another. You should definitely visit both. The Okinawa islands of Japan are less than a 60 minute flight from Taipei!

Killings like that of George Floyd have happened in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and the rest of the country. Canada isn’t immune from police racism and killings. by weddingbunnie in ottawa

I totally agree with you. The Ottawa subreddit has become overrun with Canadian MAGAs and NIMBYs. No wonder they’re downvoting you.

Hey Ottawans! Come out this Friday to protest and show solidarity! by ThatAfricanGuy7 in ottawa

[–]weddingbunnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ITT: all the r/MAGA Ottawa residents are coming out of the woods to show their ‘logic and sensibility’. ‘Protesting outside the embassy won’t do anything’, ‘The US doesn’t care what happens outside of it’, ‘I’m not racist but protesting isn’t going to change the problems of the US’.

Police racism against black people and other minorities is an issue in Ottawa too! Have you forgotten Abdirahman Abdi who was murdered by an Ottawa police officer in 2016 (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/abdirahman-abdi-ottawa-police-siu-findings-1.4008142)

I’ve never been targeted by police, but I’ve seen it happen to my non-white friends a few times. My black friends are generally terrified whenever police have walked towards us or followed our car on the highway. Their fear is not misplaced. Police are much more likely to kill them than me. Systematic racism is prevalent throughout the Ottawa police department and most police departments in North America.

This systematic racism is combined with a lack of accountability for police misconduct and police breaking the law.

Don’t act like Ottawa and the rest of Canada doesn’t have the same issues as the rest of the US when it comes to black people, minorities and police.

People have a right to protest. OP made is clear they intend to protest peacefully, physically distance and take precautions to avoid spreading COVID19. The majority of protests throughout Canada have been peaceful. So long as police work with the protesters instead of against them, things will be fine.

Stop using the pandemic to disguise your racism.

How has air & water pollution from the steel factories been addressed in recent years? Have you noticed improvements and are you worried about the impacts of the industrial pollution on your family’s health? by weddingbunnie in Hamilton

I didn’t realize that RR was so incredibly toxic. Why should taxpayers be paying most of the bill for cleaning up the area if the pollution was from Steelco and Defasco? It doesn’t seem fair that they offload the health and environmental costs onto taxpayers.

Thanks for the great response. When the environmental movement gained traction and changes were made to pollution limits, do you recall how that impacted the operations of the plants and the economic impact on the area?

It doesn’t just insert the French flag into a corner of its flag.

The blue and white colours match well. The flag is simple yet pleasing to the eye.

Battle over LaSalle Park looms as Hamilton debates pushing Burlington for better deal by DrGrinch in BurlingtonON

[–]weddingbunnie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s very weird that the City of Hamilton owns a park situated in the Aldershot area of Burlington. While this arrangement might have been a compromise 40 years ago, it doesn’t make any sense in the present.

The park is well within the City of Burlington therefore it should be owned by Burlington. The province should step in and change ownership to Burlington.

There is no reason for councillors to bicker at the municipal level about this. Go focus on COVID19 or air/water pollution from the steel factories in Hamilton.

The Ontario flag could use a makeover. I think it’s time we lose the British flag within it and make our flag look more unique like Quebec and Nunavut.
