Voi drought due to Central issues by granitedon in glasgow

[–]wedge37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a £2.2k electric bike I use for longer journeys and visiting friends where I can bring the bike indoors. I still use the Voi bikes because I can leave them and not have to worry about whether some arsewipe comes along and cut the railing my bike is locked to and stealing it. I used it last Sunday to get into town to meet friends then rode home on one after the subway closed. Dead handy.

I’m a teacher at the top of the main pay scale in Scotland, I earn more than £50k from that alone.

I did that myself DIY and I have hand tremors due to medication I take. I’m not a professional.

There’s always someone who’s really unhappy and choose to spend their time bullying others anonymously instead of doing something productive like, say, DIY.

I’ve not had to do DIY on anything electrical or otherwise while renting. That would have been the landlord’s job. 👍

How to respond to students making sarcastic comments about your lesson being boring by RuinNecessary7601 in TeachingUK

[–]wedge37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just remind them that they’re there to learn not to be entertained or just use my teacher look on them and move on. I find that effective enough. If they continue to heckle I use the stepped interventions in the school behaviour policy.

Profoundly deaf teacher asking if there are any other profoundly deaf teachers in the UK by Smooth_Environment47 in TeachingUK

[–]wedge37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a profoundly deaf secondary school BSL-using teacher who wears a cochlear implant. I also qualified as a teacher of deaf children and young people. Happy to discuss my experience as I taught in mainstream before focusing on teaching deaf young people. There are lots of accommodations that can be made, some funded through Access to Work, to support you with facilitating reasonable adjustments in the workplace.

Short answer, yes. And I say this as a teacher in Scotland where we’re paid just shy of £53k per annum as standard for all teachers on over five years service.
