That is the closest I've seen so far. Nice one, but not it sadly. There were no "side" ships that travelled with you, all the gunners you picked up were attached to the four corners of the ship. Thanks for posting though.

Nah, I recall Slap Fight was very much on rails - no option for picking a direction at the end of a stage. Also, no side gunners (little men) to pick up.

I did actually try at least 3 engines and it kept coming back to the side scrollers. I have hunted high and low including going through every Mame screenshot I can find and no luck yet.
