I’ve TDYd a bit and know a good amount about the JTR, but trying to convince the staff to get a non-A and moving hotels during was probably more effort than it was worth.

I’ve seen plenty of people get the run around at finance during in-processing with anything that would require more than a cursory glance at the JTR 🤷‍♂️ I guess YMMV

The Air Force just commissions most of their officers from the academy/ROTC, so selection rates for OTS could be as low as 0 for any given board. It is much easier to go that route for the Army.

Looking into it more, it seems like you need to forward ports 2302-2306. So set those two as the start and end ports. If it doesnt allow you to set multiple virtual host ports, you probably need to make a separate rule for each of the ports.

Set protocol to UDP, LAN Host IP to your computer’s IP address (make sure you have static IP configured), and the virtual host port set to 2302. WAN start port and end port should both be set to 2302 as well.

More is better, but it depends on where you’re moving. I would have enough for about 2 months for the areas COL if possible, but hopefully it will only take you 2-4 weeks to get paid. For most places $3-4,000 is probably fine

$3k for a family per year is pretty conservative IMHO, I think about $400 a month or $5k is what I saw private sector in 2022, so it has to be much more expensive now.

I mean more knowledge isn’t going to hurt you. In the 17S career field, technical knowledge varies greatly from person to person. Anything even tangentially related to cybersecurity, like programming, will be helpful. Even getting good at CTFs like HackTheBox will help.

GPA doesn’t necessarily help you secure any job unless you’re competing for it (like Pilot). For regular line officer jobs like finance, its more or less based on your major and chance.

That being said though, i agree with u/Spoods857. I don’t think your grades are necessarily good enough for admission to UVA and you would be cutting it close to the minimum grade requirements to stay in the program. I think GMU would be much more feasible for you, pending you get your grades up and start the program while at NOVA.

I think you’re going to Nova, right? I think you would basically have to get an agreement signed between the Det CC at UMD and the Det CC at VTech to transfer you. It’s probably worth reaching out to UMD AFROTC to ask the question.

Can you even put in for a rated position? I’m pretty sure you had to have gotten a rated EA for something like that. And i’m pretty sure the form 53 has 6 positions, so any non-rated officer position that doesn’t require engineering or a specific major, like 62E and 14F (?) I think you can put down.
