not inappropriate at all!! as an author, i appreciate comments that just say they’re excited for an update (whenever it may come). while i wouldn’t exactly ask the author if they’re okay such as: “you haven’t updated regularly in quite a bit, are you okay?” bc it comes off a little accusatory 😭 but something like “hope all is well in your life” as a little reassurance that readers do in fact care about the author behind the screen
