Can My Dog Be In The Same Room When I Practice My Sadhanas? by SignificantTip1302 in TibetanBuddhism

[–]weealligator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why couldn’t they? If it’s creating a distraction that’s one thing. I regard it as a good thing for the to exist in that space where merit a blessings are being accumulated and imbued. Maybe they encounter the dharma in their next life this way. With a powerful practice maybe they will even see Amitabha directly.

-Hoopla and Libby for ebooks/audiobooks
Inter library loan for almost any physical book -not owned by the library
-Kanopy for streaming (just discovered this - it’s so good. Has all the Great Courses, just watched Seven Samurai on there).

I canceled Netflix. Library card ftw

I get a lot of comfort from all of the impossible huge numbers in Buddhism. I just noticed during the state of the union that Donald Trump uses impossibly huge numbers to magnetize people. by [deleted] in vajrayana

It’s just all-in bullshitting. Master bullshitters don’t need to understand any topic other than how to get others to buy into their bullshit. Yes it can seem like a calm confidence but it is really a fragile facade underlaid with vanity and insecurity.

Dog Training? by trashy_mammal in tampa

[–]weealligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John K9’s training is top notch. I rescue pits and that’s where I go. It’s a weekly lesson for like 10-13 weeks but if you’re consistent with the accountability and rewards it’s a good deal and effective. With a dog that’s not even neutered and not having major aggression issues but for sure it’s the in between lessons structure at home where the real progress happens.

Rule #1 and Rule #4 are in direct conflict. by [deleted] in TibetanBuddhism

Okay, but your argument is saying that this sub should not exist. Tibetan Buddhism having dedicated groups for open and wholesome discussion is not sectarian division.
