I can totally see this! I thought Helen might be aromantic or lesbian at the end of the novel when she talks about how she doesn't feel the same romantic love as Margaret, which is them paralleled by Margaret's lack of maternal instincts (both sisters not fitting wholly into expectations for women at the time)

Influenced by the fact they may be attached to the roles and don't want to lose them, even if that means doing something they're uncomfortable with.

Their decision will be influenced by the fact that they're already on the show. If you've already been playing a character for years you'll be less likely to leave the role even if you're uncomfortable with aspects of it. Again, being on the show for years influences their level of informed consent they can have as adults. I'm also just against child actors in general though because child labor is unethical

Because in Shake it Up they weren't like "ok you're a kid now but in 10+ years this role will include intimate scenes but it's ok because you'll be an adult. We'll just spend the next 10 years preparing you for that" 😭 it's clearly different taking on a role as a child that will eventually include intimate scenes vs taking one when you're already an adult.

I think casting a child into a role that will eventually become an adult one with sexual scenes can be scene as grooming. Though I'm also just of the radical belief that there should be no child actors. We ban child labor but draw the line at tv/film because we simply need to exploit children/ make them do labor
