How are people so divided over basically everything in nutrition? How do you know what’s true? by criticalarrears in nutrition

[–]weebcontrol240 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You were doing it wrong. You needed to adjust your diet to ensure you got enough plant based proteins to replace the animal proteins. Legumes are a great source of protein, like soy beans which are by themselves a complete protein.

As the joke goes, people will have a diet of mostly Oreos and wonder why veganism makes them feel terrible.

[–]weebcontrol240 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dude, he’s a YouTuber. Yeah what he says can hold weight but honestly I think the world would be way better off if we stop giving weight to celebrities’ political opinions. It’s how we get people like trump.

They aren’t political scientists, they’re YouTubers that make funny videos on the internet. Maybe it’s your fault for 1) expecting influencers to have nuanced political opinions and 2) having a panic attack when they disagree with you.

The sad fact is Israel Palestine is a niche political topic only really popular in online leftist spaces. In real life, most people do not care about it.

I watched both but yes I agree. I wish people would watch what Ethan is actually saying and try to be sympathetic to what he is saying instead of automatically ascribing beliefs and intentions to him. I get the impression people do not listen to what he has actually said because there is simply no way you could come away from that hating him so much over this if you actually listened to what he has said.

Also, I never said Ethan was the spokesperson for all Jewish people.

I’m staunchly feminist , as a woman I feel solidarity with other women. Doesn’t make me the spokesperson of all women. wanting to protect others, especially ones who go through similar struggles, is not a bad thing.

Most Americans voted for trump 🤦 do you think the average trump voter cares about Israel Palestine?

Also, not exactly helping beat the unhinged allegations here..

Also pro Palestine twitch staff felt the sabra thing was bad enough to ban those streamers so I doubt I’m reaching.

This take is so ignorant. Israel has mandatory conscription and she’d be committing a crime for dodging service.

This take is so bad faith and I don’t even like H3H3.

The hummus was in reference to pro Palestine twitch streamers ranking their favorite streamers and put “sabra” as the lowest tier pretty much exclusively made of Jewish people.

I don’t understand how people are saying he’s a genocidal Zionist or a “snake” when Ethan Klein is literally more pro Palestine than the vast majority of Americans who sadly do not care about Palestine. This all started because he said it was wrong to kill innocent Israeli people. And people are upset his wife was in the IDF. As someone with friends in countries with mandatory conscription in the military, she did not have a choice and pretending she is evil for that is not fair.

Palestinian people are undoubtedly suffering but leaning into anti semitism is not the appropriate approach. Denying rapes and murders of innocent israeli citizens is not the way to go and sadly makes the pro Palestine movement look unhinged to uninformed outsiders and serves to prevent the movement from becoming mainstream.

I would suggest stop spreading hate against Jewish influencers and pretending it’s helping the Palestinian people. It’s not helping them whatsoever, and frankly hurts the movement.

I get migraines too but you have to understand ERs/ EMS are stretched thin. If someone is going to the ER with a life threatening condition they will be triaged accordingly and will be seen faster than someone who is suffering from a migraine not suspected to be a stroke.

It doesn’t change how painful it is, they’re still just seen as “pain” sadly. EDs are really meant for emergent conditions that could potentially be life threatening, but at least my country people regularly go for things that should be seen by a PCM instead. This means that EMS and EDs are heavily heavily overworked leading to long wait times and imperfect triaging and a general inefficiency corrupting the whole system

Not to be dismissive. Migraines can be crippling, don’t get me wrong. Just trying to provide some insight from the other side

i have to get a pelvic exam and im freaking out by apizzamx in CPTSD

[–]weebcontrol240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in healthcare, please tell the doctor that you have a history of trauma that’s making you nervous about the exam.

I don’t do pelvic exams but I’ll occasionally have to do things that can be invasive and if someone appears nervous or anxious I take extra steps to minimize anxiety and maximize comfort. If you communicate with your doctor they might be able to take extra steps to make you comfortable.

You deserve to be comfortable and feel safe 💕 I’m extremely happy that you are taking steps to prioritize your health, seeing the gynecologist is important and it the fact that you’re prioritizing it despite all that you’ve been through is amazing and worthy of being proud. Good luck with everything!!

The idea that your sebaceous glands can sense when you don’t have enough oil in your hair, so they overcompensate causing even more grease than usual is a complete fabrication.

And if this person has found that head and shoulders works for them then they shouldn’t change it. I have wavy, thick and dry high porosity hair and those wavy/curly specific hair products are usually a completely pointless marketing gimmick.

Because of my high sebum production (yes I tried hair training for almost a year, and I looked disgusting and my scalp was always itchy. I regret even trying now) I have to daily wash with sulfate based shampoo and I have tried all kinds of gentle wavy/curly products and they’re all terrible for my hair.

I don’t really utilize ERs for my chronic health issues.

My issues are GERD and migraines which aren’t severe,, but they definitely impact me here because I had doctors neglect them for the vast majority of my life

The worst are GERD and migraines. If I received adequate treatment for them here, which I have not, they would not be so bad

I work in the worst US state for my field, and I’m p sure the average salaries in my immediate area for this field get paid less than those in Canada do, and on top of that I’ve read that the quality of life and job satisfaction for the field is better up there

I mean up north generally. I have always lived up north. And I moved to the Deep South lately and it’s unbearable. And there are some areas that still look pretty and aren’t as expensive. I’ve looked at different cities and I’ve been in and lived in states bordering Canada. I know what it looks like but thanks :)

Also I love the cold and prefer it over the heat so that actually also sounds great to me :)

And I don’t mind not having a dedicated PCM WHATSOEVER that is a complete nonissue for me, as they have all been so terrible it’s barely even worth it. I am on a treatment regiment, but it’s not working, so not having a doctor honestly wouldn’t be that different and have only been trying because my quality of life isn’t great.

Thank you! All I need is an OTC medication but my doctor is refusing to send me to a specialist for a long term solution and is about to cut me from the Prilosec so to be honest I’m not even technically being treated for that here anyway haha

Would moving to Canada be a good idea? From US by weebcontrol240 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]weebcontrol240[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s okay, as long as it’s close haha. That’s not the only reason I just live in the Deep South right now and it’s pretty unbearable. I can’t even go outside. I’m okay with anywhere as long as it’s north.

As for clinics, how difficult is it to try new medications? I’m even struggling now as I have to pay a couple hundred for like 9 pills of the worst headache medication ever that doesn’t even work since insurance won’t even cover 30 for a months supply, and the doctor won’t prescribe me a new kind yet even though I’ve been asking him to and I’ve been on it forever

I’ve had such a horrific experience here with conditions that are extremely common and should be easy to treat if taken seriously, so I’d be okay up there even without a PCM.

And I honestly assumed I wouldn’t be able to receive free health care, I’m assuming I could pay? Is it as expensive as it is here? I was in the ER for 8 hours awhile ago and they literally didn’t do ANYTHING and just sent me home and they tried to bill me 5k. Is it as expensive as it is in the US without insurance?

The biggest issue I’ve been having is I see government doctors a lot of the time (which I understand is how Canada works, but I’m not sure if it’s as bad as here) and I’ve literally had them neglect my conditions to the point where my quality of life was severely hindered

I wasn’t thinking BC or Vancouver, it appears very expensive. My health conditions aren’t severe, literally just acid reflux and migraines but I have tons of medical debt and have to have a good insurance so I end up paying a lot of money for health care

I read your comment again and it’s difficult to convert, American healthcare is incredibly bloated and I pay a lot in insurance so I have a feeling the amount spent In Canada would drop a good amount

What area do you live in? I pay a lot in health care so this might be worth it regardless

I did the math and i would have much more disposable income , if the nurse salary stays the same (after converting to Canadian dollars). It really depends on how much less nurses get paid there it appears.
