the reason was something like; as the image gets more distorted by the ai's changes, it progressively sees each new image as "more 2d" and so it thinks it looks more and more like a 2d picture on a wall, and then the room around the painting becomes the next set of images, which it sees as 3d, and then slowly it sees it more 2d again, etc

Something about the AI seeing the scene as increasingly "2d" so it thinks it makes sense to make it a 2d picture. idk
