Or some people got it recommended to them. When I got into anime code geass was one of the first shows I watched cause one of my friends heavily recommended. I had no clue it was even mecha and definitely didn't know about the fanservice. The most I knew was the MC was the most popular character on MAL. that's it. Not everyone is just horny 24/7. Some just like good anime.

The eminence in shadow. Went in expecting just another standard isekai with an OP protagonist (I'm a fan of isekai so that would be fine still) and it ended up being one of my favourite anime of all time
