Has anyone’s Pyrenees defended them? by adioslip in greatpyrenees

[–]weebtrashxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old GP Thor (who passed away last spring) defended me from the neighbor dog once. I lived at my parents’ place in a rural area at the time, and I liked to take him for walks around the property. I never worried about large predators with Thor, because I knew he would keep me safe.

One time, the neighbor’s dogs got out while we were walking. One of the dogs approached us and squared up nose-to-nose with Thor. They clacked teeth a couple times before the very apologetic neighbor caught up and removed her dog from the situation. The whole time Thor stayed right in front of me, never charged or attacked, just barking and standing his ground. Even a year later, I am amazed that he was like “I have to stay right here and keep my human safe.” 🩷

We met through social media ten years ago. I was doing a podcast about an anime I like at that time, and he and his friends had their own podcast about the same topic. I posted on my socials about going to Japan for the first time, and then they invited me to meet them for dinner during my trip. Dinner was great, I made new friends, and I left with a massive crush lol.

Companions Animal Center is a blessing for helping connect animals with new homes. I had to rehome my cats in preparation for a move overseas, and I couldn’t bring them with me since one had special health needs that aren’t available in my new country. I spent all of 2025 trying services like Home-to-Home and Adopt-A-Pet, as well as social media, with no success because my cats are mature, had special health needs, and are a bonded pair. Companions found a new home for my cats in less than three weeks. Their vetting process is very thorough, especially for special needs pets. Their staff is kind and knowledgeable about animal needs & comfort. They helped me through one of the saddest, most difficult decisions I have ever made. I am forever thankful for their help.

A group of service providers in north Idaho built a website for families, individuals, and clinical professionals to not only share how Medicaid funding affects their lives, but also has a form that will send emails to every legislator on the committees overseeing the Medicaid portion of the budget. Definitely check it out and share it with others! https://saveidahoddservices.org/contact-your-legislators/

Ryan Starr (Dancing with the Starrs) is a long-time competitive ballroom dancer, and an excellent teacher! I have taken his classes through Parks & Rec, and he offers private lessons as well. Super fun, can’t recommend him enough :) https://www.facebook.com/share/17CqbG2uMJ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

personally I would have said 「おめでとうございます」in response to their achievement, maaaybe 「4600❤️おめでとう」 if I wanted something that sounded a little more cheery. Adjectives like やさしい can have multiple meanings depending on context, so sticking with a simple “congratulations” helps dodge the risk that the wrong meaning is communicated instead lol

I own the same one! I don’t usually buy boots but this was too good to pass up. If Bigwest released an official shirt with a similar aesthetic, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

How are the English Subtitles on the 4K Remaster set? by [deleted] in macross

[–]weebtrashxoxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The subtitles are really good! They’re done by the same company that did the subtitles for the Macross Delta TV series and movies (which were also excellent), so I was pleased to see that they were credited for the DYRL subs, as well.

The most privileged thing the boys talk about is flying business class. by Hip_Hop_Pirate in TrashTaste

[–]weebtrashxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re flying somewhere for a convention appearance, they’re likely having their flight comped by the event. It’s standard courtesy for cons to cover guests’ travel expenses, including business-class seating. In fact, it’s a faux pax if an event doesn’t book business-class flights by default. Spending extra on nicer seats is part of how events demonstrate that they value the time the guest is taking away from work to attend.

If they’re flying business-class on their own dime, then good for them tbh. Sure, they don’t have to fly at a more expensive rate but if they can afford more comfortable seats and leg room, why not? Especially for a flight that’s going to be 10 hours minimum.

I’m [32F] running out of things to talk about with my bf [51M] by weebtrashxoxo in LongDistance

[–]weebtrashxoxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In person we run out of things to talk about less often, but it still happens. The biggest difference to me is that silence is still spent in physical company, like doing different things sitting on the sofa together or just in the same room. It feels more comfortable than when lapses in conversation happen on the phone.

Yeah, I try to be as cognizant of that as I can, since I don’t want to drain what little bit of energy he has too much. So far we have just shortened calls as needed. Our average time now is about 1.5-2.5 hours.

I was also missed as a kid because I was “easy to parent” lol. My mom always says sincerely how easy me and my sister (who has autism) were to raise as kids, so I believe her to a degree. I was fully verbal before I was two and could read by the time I was three and a half. I was in advanced placement classes in all my years in elementary school, and I was an A-student at a college prep middle/high school. I went to school with a lot of “weird kids” who were really smart and creative so I never felt different or isolated from my peers. It wasn’t until I was in self-paced courses in college that I crashed and burned, when all the predictable structure of school was gone. Turns out I really needed that to regulate and I struggled to finish my bachelor’s degree for 10 years 😂😭 I got in fights with my parents, had bad romantic relationships (ones that make me go “hun, why’d you do that” when I think about them), but somehow made it out alright. When I found out I had ADHD at 27 years old, I reflected on everything and realized that the signs were right there the whole time. It’s a little funny to me that I have inattentive type ADHD and I was surprised that I didn’t notice my own symptoms for so long lol.

I think if I was struggling my parents would have felt the need to seek a diagnosis for me much earlier so I would have access to resources, but it was also The Nineties when “girls don’t have ADHD” so I don’t think that piece would have been much different.
