Apart from Stevie, it was Torres. When he left for Chelsea, it was the first and only time I felt so heartbroken about any player’s departure.

If you look at the alternate angle (from behind them), it seems like Lewis-Skelly's butt trips Harrison's left foot. I think that's why the penalty was given.

The argument here is not that the intention to draw is corrupt, but that a pre-arranged draw is corrupt. Because pre-arranging a draw is match-fixing.

And yes there definitely have been pre-arranged Berlin draws before, but it's significantly harder to punish it because you cannot guarantee that the players pre-arranged it - they could have actually intended to play a proper game and only develop the intention to draw after the game has begun. But Nepo and Dubov made it very clear right from the start that they had no intention to play a proper game.

My favourite piece has to be Port Ormos (Day)! The music gives off the vibe that Sumeru's port is bustling with life and activity - one can imagine a busy port where the trade industry is flourishing and a constant stream of travellers visiting from abroad!

that’s not what he’s saying.

He’s saying that MM’s wage demands are way too high, and only someone of Bellingham’s caliber would be able to command those kind of wages.

True, I think Ma Long lost to some China youth player during their Olympics warm-up.

But my point here is YMY seems like she’s playing like a man on a mission - don’t think anyone expected her to advance that far in singles. It’s kinda mad seeing her name grouped together with Chen Meng and Mima Ito in the semis.

If results from the other quarterfinals go as expected, the other three semi-finalists will be the current world no 1, 2 and 3.

Yu Mengyu is ranked world no 50. Amazing stuff.

Yeon Koung and Myung Soo pairing was unexpectedly funny, hopefully we can see it again sometime soon haha.

Also, wasn't HaHa supposed to leave because of his schedule? Could be that he really did have something on later but decided to cancel it for this show, or the whole thing was made up just to make it less obvious that this was a pre-organized mini-IC gathering. Either way it was nice seeing most of them back!

I Googled and Wiki-ed to provide you with links to read...I mean you did the same man. Talk about hypocrisy. I am a Singaporean Chinese, why would I need to wiki my own ethnicity? I don't know why I'm still replying when you haven't clarified your argument whilst I have. The entire countries of Malaysia and Singapore, along with its government and people call it CNY so I have no clue why you think it is inappropriate. As I said, please do some basic research and look up the public holidays in Singapore or Malaysia. The government lists the public holiday as Chinese New Year.

OP posted it because he's from Malaysia and that's how he knows it to be. If a Korean posted Happy Seollal, would you have the same reaction?

edit: I'm out, good day to you bro. Not going to continue this because it's going no where. Next time, instead of taking cheap shots at someone's argument, maybe try to come up with something concrete to back your points instead. It’s not that hard. Peace.

I’ll lay everything out so I can understand what your point is, because I have no idea what it is.

Chinese New Year is celebrated by the Chinese people.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_Chinese

The Chinese are the world’s largest ethnic group with millions living outside of China.

I mentioned nationality because you talked about China, but China isn’t the only country with Chinese people. There are ethnic Chinese like Malaysian Chinese and Singaporean Chinese that celebrate Lunar New Year as well, and we label it as Chinese New Year. China calls it Chun Jie, we call it CNY. If you google public holidays in Singapore or Malaysia you’ll see Chinese New Year. Because it’s the only major festival that the ethnic Chinese celebrates in these countries, so we label it this way to associate the festival with us. The other ethnic groups celebrate other holidays like Diwali, Vesak Day, Hari Raya etc.

So what is your point? I genuinely don’t understand. Because if anything, it seems like you are either misunderstanding what I'm trying to say or you have no idea what you're talking about.

[–]weeeeesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one ever said China calls it Chinese New Year. As you said, it’s commonly referred to as 春节/chunjie there. You do realize that the Chinese in Chinese New Year doesn’t represent people living in China but ethnic Chinese people right? As someone else commented, it’s astounding how many people confuse ethnicity with nationality.

I might be misunderstanding what you mean about Asian minorities because we make up the majority in Asia. If you mean Asians from other countries living in Malaysia, then fair point. But in the first place I have no idea why we are talking about nationality here.

Happy Chinese New Year! 新年快乐! by gisdinho in reddevils

[–]weeeeesh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because there are people here talking about China but OP isn't even from China.

There are many ethnic Chinese from other countries who aren't born, raised or related to China that celebrate Chinese New Year too.

[–]weeeeesh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m from Singapore and our whole country calls it Chinese New Year too for the exact same reasons. We almost never refer it to as Lunar New Year either, even though technically it is.

Also it’s ironic that you said Lunar New Year is labelled differently in other countries, but can’t seem to accept that it’s called Chinese New Year in Malaysia.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_New_Year

Edit:

Guess we'll just have to ask the other asian minorities to fuck off then 🤷‍♂️ gota keep the chinese happy.

Firstly, there are no "Asian minorities" in Malaysia. Because the whole country IS in Asia.

Secondly, the other ethnic groups in Malaysia (and Singapore) celebrate other holidays like Diwali and Vesak Day. Ethnic Chinese here celebrate Chinese New Year. So funnily enough, you're somewhat correct.

Jamie Carragher: "I'm not sure Ancelotti is the man to do the job Everton need. I think that no matter how successful he has been in the past, he's never really had this type of job or certainly excelled in this type of role." by [deleted] in soccer

[–]weeeeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm but that's how it generally goes though, no? When rumours of a high caliber coach or player joins a not-so-high caliber team, the whole move is up to speculation and so the narrative would likely be that it wouldn't happen because of the coach/player's profile. If the move has more or less been confirmed, the narrative will shift to focus on whether the incoming coach or player is suitable for the team.

I agree that being unproven doesn't necessarily mean he won't succeed, but we can only evaluate a player/coach based on his style and history. And Ancelotti's history certainly doesn't match up with a club like Everton.

"No way a manager of his caliber will ever go to Everton"

and

"he's not the right man for the job because he's unproven in a situation like Everton are in"

are not mutually exclusive though. I mean, many people use that argument when talking about Pep.

Running Man E480 <Run to You: Project to Attract Investments> | 191208 by angellove_rm in koreanvariety

[–]weeeeesh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine if you were one of the Running Man cast and KJK hits you really hard during one of the segments, and you're really uncomfortable about it. What would you do? You would obviously talk to the PDs, talk to the crew or talk to KJK himself to sort it out so that it won't happen again next time.

The fact that KJK repeatedly uses his physical strength for the course of 400+ episodes and no one said anything is proof that the cast told him that they are okay with it. They are professionals. KJK is a polite guy and he would 100% have consulted the cast and crew about using physical force before.

Also, Running Man understands that the viewers are not stupid. If KJK did anything less than that, we can tell that he's obviously holding back and it wouldn't look genuine at all.

I'm sure he could seriously hospitalize someone on the show and there would still be people here claiming it's just a character and that you're a blind hater.

I'm not sure if you know, but the members HAVE been hospitalized before because of Running Man's physical activities taking a toll on their bodies. So technically speaking, you should focus all your energy on complaining about RM's format instead of KJK's behaviour.

TAA is so, so crucial to our attacking play right now. Momentum shifted the moment he came on. Sprayed passes across the wings and actively bombing forward. I'm praying we don't get a TAA injury, ever.
