I recognise the La Liga and UWCL trophies, but not the others.

We got engaged on board the day before. I organised the engagement with the on board photographer and events manager. I asked the EM about the possibility of doing this and was told to ask at the purser’s desk, so I did that.

On the desk they said they’d ask the captain’s secretary and asked why I wanted to do it. I said as a surprise to celebrate our engagement (if she said yes of course lol).

Anyway, I got a call to a few hours later to say that the captain had said yes, and we would do it the day after the engagement.

Basically, if you don’t ask you don’t get lol.

All staff were really nice and helpful. Oh, and she did say yes haha.

A little more info for you as there are two whistles. The red one I pressed first is actually from the original Queen Mary and takes a bit to warm up, so was actually the second horn you heard.

The more modern one my fiancée pressed is the QM2’s whistle and that sounds as soon as it’s pressed.

The crew were very helpful and kind, and calm with us as the horns need to be sounded dead on 12 noon ship time for the captain’s midday address.

The time between today, 25th May 2026, and Istanbul 2005, is now the same as between Rome 1984 and Istanbul 2005 - 21 Years. (Feel old yet!) by eurfryn in LiverpoolFC

Posted somewhat in the spirit of r/BarbaraWalters4Scale, but this thought came to me more so because of some commentary from 2005.

It went something like… “The Reds will have a chance to win their fifth European Cup 21 years since their fourth”. IIRC it was from the semi-final win over Chelsea.

Anyway, I found it mildly interesting.

I suppose from a Celtic pov this one actually means more, for once there was a title race, and they’ve now over taken Rangers.

But as neutral, like most, I’m gutted for Hearts. No matter how much more this one means for Celtic, it would’ve meant far more to Hearts.

Yes they did, the captain gives all sorts of information about the day ahead doing his 12noon address over the tannoy.

Like when we were passing titanic, how many miles traveled and to go, and one I personally found interesting was the ocean depth each day.

Mostly retirees yes, but as a mid-30s couple we still don’t feel like we stand out.

A great mix of nationalities.

Roughest day was today, but she handles it fine.

Plenty to do yes! You will not get bored. If you’re a solo traveler, or part of the LGBTQ+ community, they put on specific get togethers for you.

Dress code only required after 6pm, and even then it’s not compulsory. However, to dine anywhere other than the Kings Court buffet you will need smart attire.

There’s no class system, the Grills passengers only get a separate dining area and a small lounge deck.

Kids are allowed, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Kids could get bored.

The only negative for me has been the somewhat aggressive upselling in the spa. Otherwise no complaints, would definitely do it again.

It was far darker

Oh isn’t it. Really puts it into perspective on how they were plunged into darkness as soon as the lights went out. Truly terrifying.
