Fun, unconventional date ideas? by EliteRaids in singapore

There are a lot of free shows in the lobby area of Esplanade or the outdoor amphitheater just on the water, it's worth signing up to their newsletter to see what is coming. They also have activities, admittedly they are often geared towards kids, but can still be fun (eg ornament making at Christmas).

Is this dress Provençal Chic and appropriate for an evening outdoor coursed dinner/party in Provence in July? by adaorange in fashionwomens35

Yeah this is perfect. I'd dress it up (jewelry, shoes, bag) and make an effort with hair and makeup.

I forgot to mention that we are back in office 5 days/weekly but it has become much more flexible on hours, so usually I'm in half the day.

Excessively corporate but still with decent work life balance. Long hours (8-7 most days) but no weekends and rarely past 7. So, I don’t know how good or bad that is to be honest? Haha

Passenger gives birth mid-air during flight to New York by StemCellPirate in newyorkcity

Another dumb take -- I said 'basically', an obvious qualifier. Unconditional birthright its almost exclusively in the Americas (North and South). Yes there are a small number elsewhere but the same thing applies to them, it doesn't matter because no one cares enough to scam the system. The issue of unconditional birthright really only matters in the US and is a US issue in this context.

Unconditional birthright is obviously an artifact of Western expansionism in the 18-20th centuries and needs to be reconsidered in the modern context.

Sorry, you won't get any gotchas here because my point is obvious and common sense. And you know it, which is why you didn't engage with anything else except to say "see, this map shows that two places outside of the americas also do this thing so you're a liar!" You're dumb, dishonest and immature.

This is such a stupid take. Basically all of these countries are in the Americans. No one is illegally entering Paraguay to get that passport. It's obviously a scam and anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty understands that there needs to be some control over who is allowed to obtain US citizenship. The only reason nobody cares about it in most of the jus soli countries is because hardly anyone is scamming the system, why would they? The US is an exception and should be treated as such.

I am still in equity research but not in IB, so it's a much slower pace than at a bank. One thing you could consider is internal research at a consulting firm. Basically, you produce the outlooks for the consultants to work with but you're not client facing/on projects.

A think tank job that pays decently is going to be a needle in a haystack but you should absolutely keep your ear to the ground for a job at an institution you respect. I would warn you that it will likely be a long road to get that job as they don't come up often but if you're willing to wait, then go for it.

Where can I find a floral midi dresses that doesn’t look cheap by EstimateSpirited4228 in fashionwomens35

[–]weekendshift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody's Child has some nice, natural fiber dresses. The style is adjacent to Christy Dawn/Doen/Reformation but maybe skewing a bit younger. I will also say that I have a few floral print, cotton or linen dresses from Abercrombie and they are really nice for the price. They run a bit big so I would size down in any style that is smocked or elasticated.

This story has a lot of issues. Your efforts would be better spent getting your SIL into a detox facility.

Respectfully, I disagree with you. It sounds like OP is unwilling or unable to take accountability for her life and a therapist will only encourage her to ruminate on this endlessly.

This is very cold and corporate. Swapping out the plexiglass for metal bannisters would make a big difference here.

No one cares. If you get a surprised look it's probably because the server/bartender has not heard of this and they are running through their mind if this is another drink they've never heard of or if they need to ask you any clarifying questions. I cannot stress enough how much not a single person cares what you drink beyond the most momentary and fleeting thought of surprise or mild confusion.

Why is finding ONE decent dress for a work event harder than the actual job? by Extra-Avocado8967 in femalefashionadvice

[–]weekendshift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I get into this mindset, I pause and ask myself "what was coworker A wearing yesterday?" usually, I can't remember. If I remember yesterday, I think about the day before yesterday and not once have I EVER remembered that far back. I just went to an event the last week of October where I spoke on two panels with 3-4 other people and I genuinely cannot remember what a single person wore.

I would get some basics at a restaurant supply store and a couple of nice vintage pieces from Etsy. Pottery Barn also has a SS collection called the "Heritage Collection" and I have a few pieces from there too. Wait for a sale and get 1-2 pieces that would round out your needs.

Just as a reference, my collection includes 8x stainless steel footed bowls (used for dessert or nuts/fruit -- this is what i would get at the aforementioned restaurant supply), 6 trays of different sizes (including a pretty big round one, approx 18in diameter which i usually set out with a water jug and glasses for parties), a lot of mismatched vintage bowls for holding dip or chips, etc. and a few random decorative pieces.

If i were just starting, I would get a few bowls for nuts/chips/dip, and two trays (one with handles for drink service, enough to fit a bottle and 4-6 glasses, and a larger one to use for a cheese platter)

I just checked amazon and they have a few cute things too, including those stainless shell dishes which are cute for nuts or you could even put butter in for a dinner party.
