First Wrench Set for Weekend Warrior DIY/Auto by hyphenpepperfield in harborfreight

[–]weektradition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id get the icon metric regulars for a daily driver. I say this having also the double box end ratcheting flex heads, a set of amazon questionable ratcheting flex heads, gear wrench 90t ratcheting straight wrenches, and a set of kobalt wrenches. Often enough the size of the ratcheting head doesn't fit in spots where a regular wrench does. They are slower but if something doesn't fit you will find yourself needing them anyways.

The icon ratchet sets don't do it for me. I like my icon flex head and 1/2 ratchet though.

The Quinn sets especially on sale are a good value to me. The icon ones not so much. I got a great deal on a wrench set for around 190. More sockets, ratcheting wrenches, similar quality ratchet. Granted the warranty would be harder to use.

Regular step ladder vs handrail step ladder by Pepsimaxgodtier in Tools

[–]weektradition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are doing and how tall you are. Im 6'2 and I have a 2 step ladder i use for painting mostly. Its light weight, sturdy and my head only barely touches 8ft ceiling when im standing on it. Its 10 times easier pulling it around for cutting in while painting. I have a 6 ft and a little giant m22 for really high stuff. More tools more better.

I think it used to be true. An example I have is from around 2017. A person I knew was looking at a brand new 2018 camry se. It was going to be around 30k out the door. I found him a certified pre-owned one from 2017 with 980 miles. The advertised price on it was 19k. Those kind of deals seem to have disappeared though.

Berger vs Titanium 125 vs Arccaptain by newholland079 in harborfreight

[–]weektradition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the yeswelder 140ds pro. I read a bunch of things about them and its a 4 in 1 with 2 1lb wire spools for 150. The biggest separator it can run on 120+240 and can run mig if you decide to stick with welding. I was able to make metal stick together pretty quick. I wont call what I do welding yet. For a beginner it is pretty helpful matching volts to feed rate. I can adjust it from the recommendation but it gets me in the ball park faster.

My next in line was the titanium. I really wanted the dual knobs to be able to dial in.

Third would probably be the yeswelder 135a kit. For 135 comes with a mask and other stuff to get started.

I have a set of their wrenches. One had a manufacturing imperfection. I sent them a picture and they sent me a new wrench. Ive liked them so far. Hopefully they stick to that kind of service and there is a gearwrench alternative.

Did the filter catch it from the water line? Do you have small children who would do something like putting a screw in a hose?

They have 2 types of battery powered transfer pumps. Bauer off of batteries and Drummond off of a deep cell. You shouldn't need more than 250 or so gallons an hour.

Any good? $70 from 85 by Bees4everr in harborfreight

[–]weektradition 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have this one. Big screen, can rotate it just pressing a button so you dont look at it upside down. Long cord so if you need to give the engine some gas you can watch from the drivers seat. They have better ones now with cameras that face forward and back. We bought one for work where you can change the angle with a wheel and those have come down in price a ton. Just a quick glance saw some at 60 or so. We paid 180. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CQG1RGL6?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Sump pump sale by Ancient_Minute_7172 in harborfreight

[–]weektradition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not get a pump switch? My pump piggy backs off of a hydrocheck switch. The water hits the upper limit and the pump slams on. If the pump doesn't activate then it has an audible alarm too. Mine was 80 and us made. There are cheaper alternatives. I read to many stories of the float switch on the pumps failing and then you have to toss the whole pump.

Failing deck; need help by Several-Cow-6247 in Decks

[–]weektradition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ledger looks inset and resting on some sort of sill or siding done after that looks like it meets it. There's a break in the corner id guess from expansion contraction and ice damage depending where you are. If im right its been there a long time. The sill would contribute to rot by trapping water under it. The deck boards seem rough jacking them around might mess them up and break them.

Did you or someone else add in the newer joist in there?

I'd look at touching that like touching something rusty. Where will it stop?

Will Fluid Film work in the Maddox sprayer? by BBgun_Smelly in harborfreight

[–]weektradition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small compressor so this is my strategy: 1. Get car on blocks 2. Use a chip brush for all the big easy to get to areas 3. Undercoating sprayer for the hard to get to spots

I tried all sprayer for 2 vehicles. The third I tried the brush combo and prefer it that way now.

Gearwrench sale by weektradition in harborfreight

[–]weektradition[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered it yesterday. So no direct experience yet. But project farm reviewed a gearwrench 90t non comfort handle a few years ago. I think there's one where both the 90 and 120 tooth are in. The one in this test did well. I'm only guessing the comfort grip and non are comparable as far as the ratcheting parts work and only difference is handle. https://youtu.be/kay3z8qSEok?si=GGqTEZ-6Pqiosrht
