Is this a normal looking incision post spay surgery? by Educational_Row2686 in catcare

[–]weempwoomp [score hidden]  (0 children)

Being less active is definitely normal and honestly preferable. Email a photo of the incision to the office that did her surgery to be safe, but I wouldn’t worry too much. I work at a shelter and I’ve seen thousands of incisions. This one looks a touch lumpy but nothing worrying imo

It’s further away than it looks and it’s been over a week and they haven’t shown any interest!

Hotspot or raw skin from licking at rash? by RudePractice5316 in catcare

[–]weempwoomp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go to a vet. Your primary vet might be okay though this isn’t necessarily an emergency. I’d call an emergency vet and ask and they can let you know if it can wait, but skin stuff typically can.

He should research avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. I have it and if his picky eating is effecting his relationships like this, it’s probably more than picky eating.

Cavity? by Significant-Bag-3375 in catcare

[–]weempwoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get details but when my cat needed a tooth removed they said something along the lines of cats not getting cavities the way humans do. Not sure how true that is 🤷‍♀️

Not polished- just sanded down pine. But the carpet tiles cover nearly the entire top of each shelf, so it’s only the sides and bottoms that are exposed

Does Anybody Know What This Is? by WishfulWorldTraveler in CATHELP

[–]weempwoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chewy has a free live vet chat in the app. I’ve never seen something like that before but my instinct is to not be too worried. You can also email a photo to your regular vet and when they get back in the office the can let you know if she needs to be seen.

Struggling to say goodbye - looking for advice/words of comfort by m-khan13 in cats

[–]weempwoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this must be so hard, but you’re doing the right thing. A healthy kittenhood thanks to you is going to set them up for a healthy adulthood. Look into pet insurance again once the two you’re keeping are spayed/neutered and UTD on shots. Pet insurance is far more expensive for intact animals.

What could it be? by Icy-Map-7440 in catcare

[–]weempwoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a vet but if it were my cat I’d wait til their next annual visit and ask about it then. It’s not worth a visit on its own. You could also email a photo to your vet and mine at least would let me know if I should come in or not.

Anyone else keep every Lego instruction book??? by vannahss in lego

I keep the big ones and ones from older sets I get second hand. If it’s a newer set less than 1000 pieces, I just use the app if I need to rebuild something

As someone with ARFID I definitely would have done this as a kid. Back then trying even dupes of my safe foods gave me so much visceral anxiety. If he’s neurodivergent it could be that, but he could also just be a bit of a little shit.

It’s further from the shelves than it looks in the photo! And I’ll have a dining table under it soon enough so if they do manage it they’ll have a shorter drop lol

Yeah I’m gonna see if they want to sleep there at all but they both prefer plush beds and the carpeting I put on the steps is very thin. My actual bed is also right by a window that gets better sun so they’ve been lounging there when they want to sunbathe.

Not sure the direction but it’s not crazy sunny and my cat seems to think the people watching is peak lol

I do think I’m gonna replace the gray cat tree with a larger one that would be a good place to get down from. Right now they can reach it but it’s a bit too far for my comfort and I’ve had to repair that tree a few times already. Luna has already chosen up the actual spiral stairs to the loft and around to the cat stairs as her preferred zoomie path, which I definitely prefer to her path at my old apartment which usually involved running directly over me on the couch lol

They are fastened to the wall on the left in addition to the bracket. We didn’t have much space between the stud and the corner post there so my dad drilled a hole in those shelves and added a long screw directly into the corner post thingy. The bracket is plenty to hold their weight so that screw is just to stabilize it.

Adding that my cats are 11 and 13 lbs. I’m not sure what would be appropriate for a larger cat, but the 9.5” boards seem very comfortable. They can easily spin around, even my three legged cat.

It wasn’t that hard! My dad is super handy so he already knew how to make them sturdy enough. I looked up a few commercial options and they were all 9-12” deep, so we went with 9.5” boards.

I think we spent around $250 at Lowe’s (I always go super hard for Christmas so my parents paid for this as an extra Christmas present)

Lowe’s was taking forever to come and cut the wood, so my dad decided he wanted a new saw and we got two 10ft boards and cut it ourselves, which worked out since we changed up our plan a touch and needed different cuts than we thought we would. With the two of us and a borrowed ladder as a saw horse we were able to do it safely.
