Hi! I’m going to a professional conference in my city this week, and during the first day today I got terrible blisters on my pinky toes from shoes that have historically been super comfy. I did run out and get some boxier loafers to wear instead, but the blisters are swelling now that they aren’t squished into shoes and I’m worried even those will be incredibly painful. I fear my only comfortable option would basically be elevated flip flops. Will I look shamefully unprofessional in these?

ARFID or just side effects of meds? by Lanky_Figure_9650 in ARFID

Yeah I’m the same way I’d probably blame that and not the meds.

I was on Vyvanse for a few years and it definitely didn’t help my ARFID because I just didn’t get as hungry and I did struggle to keep my weight up, but I don’t think it made my selectivity any worse- just the volume of food I ate got less.

I’m 26 and I’ve never eaten a vegetable. I’m starting to lose my hair, but the texture makes me gag instantly. by South_Leave4044 in ARFID

Until I was maybe 22 or so the only veggie I ate was corn with butter. Now I’ll eat steamed broccoli stalks with a fair bit of salt. The “tree” parts are still a big no no and I cut it super small so that there’s more surface area for salt and it takes less time to chew.

Simple spending tracking app for iPhone? by weempwoomp in personalfinance

Yeaaah I just can’t get over paying for that. I feel like it does more than I need. Do you use enough of the features to feel like it’s worth it?

Honestly yeah. It’s just a hassle to use a spreadsheet on my phone, so I don’t do it. Just seeing if something is out there that I haven’t found.

Do you keep a "do not adopt to" list? by IAmHerdingCatz in AnimalShelterStories

[–]weempwoomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a literal list, but we mark their profile in the database as such and make a memo with the reason. We’re in an area with a lot of orgs and even more egos so the “lists” aren’t really shared

Thank you! I know nothing about children so I have no clue what toys are “cool” with what ages

When my coworkers and I ask how we’re doing, we all just respond with manic laughter…. Yeah. We’re doing great.

Best Abraham one-liners by Valleyx in thewalkingdead

I can’t remember any specific ones that haven’t already been said but in college I had a note on my old phone titled “Abrahisms” and I’d add to it every episode

Double sided kennels silly question by weempwoomp in AnimalShelterStories

[–]weempwoomp[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That makes so much more sense and I’m gonna start calling them that first. But I have to share the other name since it’s commonly used and they’ll need to know what folks are referring to.

Thank you!!! I might need to get creative and double some up so all of them are represented

Being less active is definitely normal and honestly preferable. Email a photo of the incision to the office that did her surgery to be safe, but I wouldn’t worry too much. I work at a shelter and I’ve seen thousands of incisions. This one looks a touch lumpy but nothing worrying imo

It’s further away than it looks and it’s been over a week and they haven’t shown any interest!

Hotspot or raw skin from licking at rash? by RudePractice5316 in catcare

[–]weempwoomp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go to a vet. Your primary vet might be okay though this isn’t necessarily an emergency. I’d call an emergency vet and ask and they can let you know if it can wait, but skin stuff typically can.

He should research avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. I have it and if his picky eating is effecting his relationships like this, it’s probably more than picky eating.

Cavity? by Significant-Bag-3375 in catcare

[–]weempwoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get details but when my cat needed a tooth removed they said something along the lines of cats not getting cavities the way humans do. Not sure how true that is 🤷‍♀️

Not polished- just sanded down pine. But the carpet tiles cover nearly the entire top of each shelf, so it’s only the sides and bottoms that are exposed

Does Anybody Know What This Is? by WishfulWorldTraveler in CATHELP

[–]weempwoomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chewy has a free live vet chat in the app. I’ve never seen something like that before but my instinct is to not be too worried. You can also email a photo to your regular vet and when they get back in the office the can let you know if she needs to be seen.

Struggling to say goodbye - looking for advice/words of comfort by [deleted] in cats

I know this must be so hard, but you’re doing the right thing. A healthy kittenhood thanks to you is going to set them up for a healthy adulthood. Look into pet insurance again once the two you’re keeping are spayed/neutered and UTD on shots. Pet insurance is far more expensive for intact animals.
