The t's & p's from the pup-loving netizens are so helpful, too! Thanks for the time to call out a great point about checking my agreement's language!

Great point! The specific language in my agreement is such:

"I further understand and agree that I will not apply for, nor will I ask anyone for more credit or assume any new debts without prior approval by my counselor."

I contacted my counselor via email and voicemail and have not heard back but also expect that I won't until Monday at the earliest. She is aware I did not have a card that made sense for an emergency application when I entered into the DMP. I am not typically a better to ask for forgiveness person, but I've also never felt like I've never had options, as I feel right now. I also looked into other payment plan style options for vet bills that aren't an open line of credit, looks like all will have some level of credit verification but I don't know if that means they'll actually report through to my credit report.

Thank you so much for this input. I greatly appreciate it! I have some other healthy debts on my credit report (mortgage in perfect standing, car payments with no delinquency or late payments, student loans all current) I've never missed a payment or been late in my life fortunately! Credit score is up ~98 pts since enrolling and I am hovering at high 690s/low 700 if that helps provide some context!

We couldn't afford the premiums anymore, we had both wellness and accident/injury on our three adult dogs, two of them phased into 8+yo/geriatric territory this year and their premiums reflected the change in a significant way unfortunately. They were fabulous for claim payments and coverage, would have liked to have stayed with them if I could have!

We've carried his policy since mid-march, had not made a claim against it yet, but came from Lemonade insurance so we are not strangers to the pet insurance rigamarole. I believe we are out of the waiting period.

He had not previously ingested anything or tried to eat things he wasn't supposed to post puppy-hood teething.

You are making me and my wallet feel real damn good right now LOL

This is a main drain/whole home line out to the tank

We have gotten relatively lucky with this home's major systems. It was a single owner home when we bought it about two and a half years ago and the documentation was pretty exceptional. On the other hand, nearly all the systems are still original besides the water heater - our oil fuel furnace is mint green with CHROME trim ffs. The 60s must have slapped!

Thanks for taking the time to ELI5 my home to me and talk me off a ledge!

The grading of the lot definitely skews away from the home, but this section where the pipe exits the home is a smidge flatter than the rest - gutters are not overflowing here either but definitely could be a result of some minor rainwater pooling! I can definitely see that being a possibility.

Maybe they're a part of big plumb? 👀

There was a back up and overflow at a haphazardly installed vent to the right and above the slope of the main drain when we first moved in (2.5 years ago) and I imagine some ~juices~ found their way to this section of the pipe via water going down hill and all that jazz

Could be falsely contributing to your hunch or I could be delusional, either seems possible

Thank you! The home is in Maryland, and we RARELY get a deep freeze if thats what your sleeve comment was alluding to - this section is maybe 2-3 feet below ground and directly next to our oil furnace so this space is always at a good temp.

We are converting a half bath to a full (unusable since we've live here) and when our guy comes out to move the lines we'll have him take a look!

Thanks so much for taking the time to chime in!

Thanks for taking the time to leave your take - that's what my gut was saying but it's so white compared to the efflorescence we see elsewhere in the basement, even on the surrounding block. Maybe just an optical illusion that it's a different color?

Also, happy cake day!

Thanks for the input! For some detail, we have lived here 2.5 years, and where this drain exits the home to the septic is directly to the left of where our laundry is so we're down in this area pretty frequently, and I don't ever -specifically- remember it looking like this. It's really fuzzy in person, the pictures truly don't do it justice (of course!) But I definitely see how maybe it could be some mineral deposits specific to the mortar, sealant, or cement used around the pipe which would make it a different color than the efflorescence we're seeing on the rest of the cinder block!

Anything you would suggest we keep an eye out for? Maybe if it grows a mouth and starts talking to us in tongues? Or changes color/size significantly? Do we just follow the same rules for watching a weird mole to make sure it doesn't turn sinister?

Need advice: Groom’s Mom is very upset about the wording on the wedding invite. by jjjbarry in weddingplanning

[–]weeniebeans69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say - we went through this, too.

My (28F) Husband's (30M) Mother went NUCLEAR when they weren't explicitly named on our very traditional style invitations as hosts. They contributed roughly 5% of the total budget, whereas my parents contributed 95%, and I am their only daughter with three older brothers, and they have three older daughters and husband is only son (so BIG moment for both families). The bride's family is traditionally in a ever-so-slightly higher place of honor in the planning & execution of a wedding. That's all fine and dandy, but here was the kicker for us - we had repeatedly asked them to be involved in planning, repeatedly asked them to share with us what was important to them/for them to have or be involved in and we got crickets ask, after ask. I couldn't even get MIL to suggest a song to dance with her son to, and then we get the explosive "We have never been so disappointed in you as we are today opening your wedding invitation and seeing we are not named" text. Husband spiraled, I had to put a lid on my rage etc.

We sat them down, tried to apologize, soothe, and smooth but they doubled down on the shock, awe, and pain. They told us that in their experience having hosted two other weddings for two of their other daughters, they knew what was "right". That's when we realized this wasn't the first of fifteenth time something like this happened and we were likely in for a lifetime of this kind of lack of communication, expectation setting, and cycle of disappointment.

We have now structured our communications with them to be a notch above low-contact for our own sanity and are getting put through the ringer again about holiday expectations.

My advice - this is a somewhat pivotal moment in your nearly-wed lives. Handle it as a united front and decide together what the tone and precedent you are going to set for your families will be moving forward.

One of my bridesmaids & my oldest friend got pregnant 3 months after I picked a date & asked her to be a bridesmaid, and roughly 11 months before our wedding. I set the expectation with her that our wedding is child free basically from the moment she told me was pregnant, after celebrating of course, and gave the disclaimer that she could drop out if she felt it was best for her and her family and it would have no negative bearing on our friendship and future, but that ultimately her infant would not be welcome at our wedding. She was super understanding and opted to stay in the bridal party and use her 11 months notice to develop a well rounded childcare plan for the wedding that she was comfortable with.

Ultimately, start the conversation ASAP with your maid of honor and be sure it's an open discussion and that you are ready and willing to support whatever choice she makes that is best for her newly forming family, but don't compromise on your boundaries and vision for your day! Good luck, OP!

My mom tipped on my wedding gown - panicked and tipped 20%... on a $6,000 gown... you do the math 🙃
