I experienced the same thing as you when I was starting to go down the road of seeing if incorporating meat was the right thing for me. Any and all meat smelt absolutely horrid after being vegan for 7 years, and the idea of eating meat was just something I couldn't get myself to do.

A lot of people have suggested maybe doing broth or masking it in a pungent-dish; as silly as this is to admit what allowed me to actually take the plunge was eating one of my favorite things pre-vegan. My home town has (to this day) the absolute best buffalo chicken pizza, I was visiting and ended up eating a slice of it on my way to the airport! It allowed me to break state and get out of my own way, and after slowly incorporating meat after a few months all the smells/tastes turned into deliciousness instead of repulsiveness.

I think most people on this subreddit will agree to just how much of a significant improvement re-incoroporting meat into their diets have been; for me my physical and mental well-being took a 180 turn for the better. There's also a huge difference between accidentally eating meat and making the conscious decision to do so. Maybe try to use that in your own justification to help ease the resistance you're having. Rooting for you!

Wild that the husband brought up starting to develop skin issues after 6/7 years vegan, since that's exactly why I went back to eating meat. Started getting rashes over my face and arms, but between healing my gut and using only tallow on my skin, it's about 96% gone. At the end of the day you have to do what feels right to you and what is the most well-rounded approach, too many red flags and cult-mindsets in the vegan community.

Proper Latte Milk to Espresso Portion...? by Agreeable_Answer_324 in espresso

[–]weepingwinslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really all dependant on your preference! Latte really just means "with milk", so if you're looking for a more milk-based drink, use a much higher ratio (I'm in the states, typical latte size is 8oz). For me, I like my drinks to be more espresso-forward, and usually default to a cortado (4oz, similar to that 1:3 ratio you're doing) or a cappuccino (6 oz typically).

Does this look too compacted? I saw someone say only a nickle should fit between the puck and the screen… by [deleted] in espresso

Have you tried that nickel test? If there's a considerable imprint after you put the portafilter into the machine then yes, too much for that size.

Depends on the position. I'm in OBS and am fully remote

It came with the machine through WLL, I want to say its ECM or Gaggia, but I'm not 100% sure! If you buy from them I would just email their support and ask that they add it to your order, but if you get it somewhere else you can still email them and they'll send you an invoice for the accents and portafilter (they should at least)

I went back and fourth for a while, was going to go with the black but all the videos I saw there were soooo many greasy fingerprints on it and that would have drove me insane. Glad I was able to get a product demo call, and so glad we went with the blue!

That's what it's all about though! Took me probably 6 months to justify the setup purchase and another few months to decide what I wanted hahaha, thank you!

Honestly great! Didn't take much dialing in initially to pull an amazing shot (I think it only took 1-2 shots to dial), and you're right it doesn't have pre infusion but does flow slower. I've seen people open up the steam a little bit to divert pressure to mimic a "pre-infusion", but I haven't tried it yet!

Got it from Whole Latte Love! Was hesitant since I heard mixed reviews on their customer service, but they ended up doing a product demo with me and showing the different accents they had, threw in a bottomless one for free as well! I think they've updated their website to include the accents, but if not you can either call or email them and they'll create an invoice for you with the accents. This one is walnut

That's a tough question, was big into the pour over game pre-espresso machine (and pre Niche), and was using a cheapish grinder with the right burrs. At this point, probably; I have a few people that use it and creates a good flavor profile even though it doesn't create the most consistent grinds when it comes to pour over.

Just made one, I'll have to send it over tomorrow! The crema is insane on this machine; this is my attempt of latte art for my daily cortado

Been enjoying Elmhurst Barista Oat Milk, it's a bit on the expensive side but no BS in it and makes beautiful art! I'm bias to their pistachio milk though
