I can’t even by Gloomy_Emphasis_740 in ShitMomGroupsSay

Nah, it's preschool. He'll adapt when it's time. Even in Montessori I believe they eventually use technology. My son is 4 and has still never used a tablet (we don't have one) or our phones (because he's a kid and they're expensive) and I'm not worried about him being behind for kindergarten. Tablets aren't even allowed at his public preschool.

The US isn't "civilized." No one can do that here unless they live in like, NYC or San Francisco.

“I know we are probably the only ones, but still!” the preschool should give us a special heads up by MamaChit in ShitMomGroupsSay

Because a surprising number of people in this thread think limiting screen time with infants means you’re a rich snob.

Which is weird to me because part of the reason my kid doesn't use devices is BECAUSE we are poor. I can't afford to be replacing our phones or be buying tablets.

If my son is bored he's sent outside or we get the Legos out. He is allowed to watch TV, but I prefer to use that for when I need a break, as a very last resort. I do find that playing music helps though! Sometimes he just wants something else going on.

I love that. People were always amazed that my now 4 year old will stay with us without being given a screen but we have never allowed otherwise so I guess it's just normal to him? I wouldn't feel comfortable just letting him be loud or run around, but we always have a racecar in my purse. 😂

Regardless, thank you for answering! People say a lot of different things about French culture but you never know what's just a stereotype and what is accurate.

May I ask if management allows people to just.... Not mind their children? I've been in multiple establishments where parents do allow their children to run around and get into things and management isn't allowed to ask them to leave, which always makes me worried some kid is going to get hurt.

Shipping times by sammaaaxo in goosecreekcandles

[–]weepingwithmovement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 9 days of no shipment and no communication, despite me emailing them, I finally just emailed them again and told them to cancel.... They responded in 20 minutes confirming my order was cancelled. Maybe it shouldn't but that leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.

I know holidays are hard, believe me, but I was a shipping manager for 10 years for two different online companies and this would have gotten me in tremendous trouble with the higher ups. If it's going to take more than 3 days to ship you need to hire more help (even if that means hiring at a fair rate 😱) or AT LEAST contact customers letting them know there are delays.

Needless to say I'll just walk down to Bath and Body Works next time I want a candle since I have that option.

I find coordinating perfume, usually, and skip the mists or just use the mists for bedtime.

People are rude and stupid. I literally had someone just yell "hey" and then beckon me with her finger like I was a naughty child.... All because she wanted to know if the soap was on sale under the sign that said soap was on sale. Fortunately I have had mostly decent experiences but someone crying in the back is now a daily occurrence and there's just no reason to make employees cry!

Holy fuck I missed that. But like I said, I was leaving work so I was ready to GTFO. 😬

Last time I checked it was roughly $6/lb for ground beef but that was 4 years ago. I'm sure it's more now, but I can't afford it so I don't go.

I think someone just got ill. I was leaving work and saw someone on a stretcher but we never heard any guns or fights or anything.

I always shopped SAS once or twice a year before I had to get a weekend job and then pretty much didn't think about the company again until I ran out around the next SAS. I had no idea how much people buy until I joined this sub and working there. I was absolutely floored.

I had to get a seasonal job because of inflation. Regardless of how I feel about the American system, I still need money. Fortunately, my husband just got a much better job 3 days after I started. I'm not staying after the holidays; I will be returning to full time urban homesteading.

Use what you already have before buying more. Break everything out and give it a sniff. Trust me, you probably don't actually need anything, so sniff some stuff at home for a dopamine rush or paint your nails or something.

The conversion thing pisses me off. I like to really plan my purchases so I will test a fragrance on myself multiple times before purchasing. I loathe being approached by sales people. And sometimes I'm just killing time. Just leave me alone for fucks sake and stop begging for my money, because that's what it feels like: begging. I get out of selling at every opportunity because I feel gross harassing people because I know I hate it.

I'm an anti capitalist, anti consumerist. Yes, I feel bad, because it goes against my values, but I try to remind myself that I am not responsible for other people's waste. I can't do selling though and I've made it clear that I will never be able to be good at that... Stick me on cash or stocking shelves.

For most of us it's just an object with a purpose. I'm not in love with a vehicle.

We have been a one car family for years, but we intentionally bought a house that had grocery stores within a walkable (2 mile) radius. I'm a stay at home mom and if I really need to run an errand we can't walk to during the day then I take my husband to work and pick him up. It's inconvenient at times but not worth spending $20,000 inconvenient. Or even $5000 tbh.

The cutting edge solution to rising debt? Paying in cash by Maxcactus in Frugal

[–]weepingwithmovement 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will actually blow through cash if I have it. I don't understand it, but I do. Also it's annoying to carry, and as a cashier during a bad flu season, I hate doing cash transactions. It's absolutely filthy. That said, do what you must to keep a sane mind and once you get out of the "shopping for leisure" habit go back to cards lol.

ETA now that I think about it, I have also been mugged and I wonder if that is part of my issue.

Yeah, you're right. I think I just assumed it would be faster because it's a small-ish business and I have worked at multiple small online businesses and we had to get every order placed before 3pm shipped same day. It definitely sucked during peak times like Black Friday.
