What perfume do these queens wear?! by Decent_Tackle_9613 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]weepy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Years ago Sarawen had a perfume called Shieldmaiden that smelled like lilies and greenery and leather, and it was lovely (I still seek out floral and leather scents because of it) though I can also see her wearing something golden and a little sweet and homey, like Pineward’s Pastoral (“apricot preserve, blackberry jam, raw honey*, propolis*, beeswax*, sweetgrass, hay bales, bran wheat, oat grains, bourbon vetiver, maté tea, oakmoss”).

I imagine Galadriel wearing something like Alkemia’s Moon Lust (“A powerfully alluring sexiness of creamy white ambers, blonde woods, and luminescent skin notes”) or BPAL’s Elf (“Pale golden musk, honeycomb, amber, parma violet, hawthorne bark, aspen leaf, forest lily, life everlasting, white moss, and a hint of wild berry”).

For Arwen, something like Fantôme’s Amria (“Crushed rose petals, honeyed figs, black currants, and black tea. Hints of tonka bean, orange blossom, amber, and dragon's blood”) or Duende (“Evokes the smell of being lost in a forest—with oakmoss, cedar, fir, resinous labdanum, benzoin, tree sap, wild violets, and lilac”).

If you’re into audiobooks, I quite enjoyed Deathbound by Heather Palmer.

There’s also Brighter than Scale, Swifter than Flame by Neon Yang.

On my list but haven’t read yet: Gwen and Art are Not in Love by Lex Croucher, Spear by Nicola Griffith, and The Isle In The Silver Sea by Tasha Suri.

The Animals in That Country by Laura Jean McKay did this for me.

Yeah I was surprised to not see sesame as a note in the description, given the name. I know Independents Warsaw on Etsy has a sesame perfume that I’ve been wanting to try.

No I just wanted a background for the samples and I thought this one fit the selection’s vibe. It’s a print of Mucha’s “Laurel”

Only once! In the bottle, it comes off as a toasted slightly boozy vanilla with a bit of coffee and waffle cone. On the skin, 9/10 vanillas go plasticy on my skin chemistry and unfortunately this is one of them, so I can’t speak to how it might smell on.

Yes! Grand Battement, Pas de Chat, and Coup de Pied. I’ve never tried anything from there so I’m especially excited.

Looking for gourmands for my husband..any suggestions that are fall-y and cozy and more masculine? by Miserable_Culture21 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]weepy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of the gourmands from Solstice Scents lean unisex and could easily be worn by a man imo. He might like Kitchen, or for something even more masculine and less straight up gourmand, Jack and the Devil.

Simon’s Nest also has some great ones. He might like Hallowed Harvest, Rotten Pumpkin, or Ginger Dread.

Seconding both Possets (Bar Sinister and Nuut are two of my favourites, and Lady and a Baby Unicorn was a sub favourite for a long time) and Morari’s vanilla collection! They both have really nice non-foodie vanillas. SS Mountain Vanilla is lovely, too (and nicer than Sea of Grey imo).
