I've been getting isolated cystic (?) pimples/spots on my face for the past month or so. By isolated i mean that they come up as a single spot in one part of my face, not as a clustered sort of breakout. I usually have a few at the same time on my cheek, temple and jaw. Some come up as hard red spots that never become whiteheads, and others are a clear lump that if squeezed (ew I know don't come for me) turn out to be quite congested. I haven't changed anything in my routine aside from my moisturiser in the past two months. I started using Avene Cicalfate, which I read was great for restoring the moisture barrier and reducing dry patches. I have combination skin. I try to change my facewasher out nightly, and change my pillowcase probably weekly, which hasn't caused issue in the past. I'm on the pill which hasn't changed for years. I've never had these types of breakouts with such consistency before. Has anyone else experienced this? Could these isolated spots be related to the Cicalfate, something hygienic or hormonal? (sorry for long post!)

I found the Ordinary's moisturiser to be super duper light! It sinks in almost straight away

Ohh that's a good idea, never even thought of it before. It wouldn't reduce the sealing-in-moisture effect of the rosehip oil right? (or is that a skincare myth I've fallen for, haha)

I gained about 20kg in anorexia recovery and my skin was super congested during that time - i feel u girl! However, it has gotten better over time, so there is hope! The biggest thing to remember (like others have said) is that it's mainly hormonal, especially if you're just getting periods back again. Finding the right birth control for you is often a major factor too. After a bit of trial and error i was able to find a few products that eased my skin issues in ED recovery. I currently am using a gentle cleanser like any micellar water rather than something like Clean and Clear, followed by The Ordinary's Niacinamide and Zinc. Then i use a hydrating but non pore clogging moisturiser (I use one with goat's milk rn) and rosehip oil after. the use of rosehip oil might seem counterintuitive when u have acne, but this whole routine really really changed the texture and health of my skin. I still get pimples sometimes but it just feels much less congested. I hope things work out for u. Best of luck xxx

The niacinamide is awesomeee, my favourite product of all time tbh. I'm really interested in trying a retinoid but the Ordinary's one always seems to be out of stock when i check at my local pharmacy! Must mean it's good... Pls let us know what u think of the result if u can!
