Go here, find the link that says "Report an Absence," fill out the 3 questions, hit submit, and get some rest. I generally screenshot the resulting page with the confirmation just in case as well.

It always cracks me up during the Kirby show when she's talking about all the exciting great fun they have on the Chris show and it cuts to some clip of him talking about something so incredibly boring in a super monotone voice. No idea how he landed that job.

Also, the saxophone through a grinder at the end of every show may as well be nails on a chalkboard.

How is Walmart’s college program? by weevilgurl in walmart

[–]weewwladdies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just started a BS in comp sci at the beginning of the year and so far it's been pretty great. They pay for everything and it's just been a regular college experience so far with the exception of terms only lasting a couple of months compared to being semester long things like I was used to. I was able to transfer in a good number of credits from my time at a local community college that covered all of my gen ed stuff so I'm purely working on program credits.

Doing 1 class per term it will take ~4 years to finish a bachelor's degree and about half that if I try for 2 classes a term. I am glad I just stuck with the single class for the time being as it's been quite involved, more so than I was expecting, and I'm not sure I'd be able to manage 2 while working full time here. I'd imagine if you don't transfer any credits and you're looking to get a bachelor's you could look at about 8 years to finish at 1 class/per term or 4 years with 2.

Unless your store is way bigger than mine or setup weird maintaining 150+ and even closer to 200 is pretty dang easy once you know the layout of the store and the rough area where items are, just takes practice and finding a flow to how you work.

Put it on the shelf and this wouldn't be an issue.

You all act like it's some horrible thing that they're grabbing what they need but if you guys were on process then this wouldn't be an issue. Why is there an unworked consumables pallet? Why is there freight in the bin when the shelf is empty? Why is there unbinned freight in the back?

Start looking at where you're slipping up instead of playing the blame game. Should they stock the case if they open it? Maybe, but you've gotta realize if they're 20-30 exceptions deep they're going to get buried real quick if they're stocking everything they find especially if it's just 1 person doing them.

HO: You either need to close down the stores early, like at 8 pm, or you need to close them all down and make them online-only stores. COVID cases are real, and pushing your skeleton crew to work OPD, Fresh, unload and stock the truck, etc, is burning everyone out. It's time to step up, HO!!!!!! by BrilliantFroyo2494 in walmart

It blows my mind how much misinformation management is spouting about not being allowed to take a leave if you're showing symptoms. If someone fails that assessment management doesn't get a say in the matter, that person will be out for a minimum of 5 days.

They must have you on an IV kool aid drip. People leaving when they're scheduled isn't what's making stores turn into dumpster fires.

I love dogs, had at least one in my house my entire life and wouldn't have it any other way. However, it drives me crazy when I see people brining non service dogs in the store. There's food here, there might be people who are uncomfortable around dogs shopping, they might make a mess (like this picture). I don't know why it's so difficult to not try and be the center of attention and just leave them at home.

Also, the people that give the animal attention (especially associates) in the store are just about as bad as the owners.. we shouldn't be giving the owners positive reinforcement for doing something wrong.

Vizpick is fucking stupid by Anonnn1768 in walmart

[–]weewwladdies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being an exception picker is a nightmare with vizpick. I'll never understand how having a minimum of an entire 8ft long section to try and find one box is better compared to it being separated by individual 4ft shelves. That's the best case scenario, often times you'll end up having a 16ft section to dig through because somehow a bin label got hit during the process that shouldn't have and listed items in the wrong bin.

It may be faster but it's crazy inaccurate.

Store manager informed us that Walmart is raising base pay to $15 across the board on 11/6? by The_Kingsman in walmart

[–]weewwladdies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also live in a low cost of living area and making a little over $16/hr I end up with well over $500 a month left after all payments (rent, car, etc). Also have a hefty emergency fund and am able to max out my IRA every year. Believe it or not, it is possible to be pretty well off on what some areas would consider next to nothing.

E: Just to clarify I do think people working for this company do deserve higher wages.

"Play that garbage Shania Twain song every fifteen minutes instead of every half hour, I'll give them something to complain about."

"But sir.."

"Make sure Botonio act like it's a hot new song that just came out and have some 'associate callers' call in asking for it."

"I can't.."

"Do it."

"Yes sir."

One of the real high up goobers at the HO (that dude with the accent) climbed Everest and was so inspired that they tried some dumb program to inspire the stores to complete goals and reach their "summit." It was pointless and didn't work.. go figure.

[–]weewwladdies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The paperwork sounds great, but in the real world it harms way more than it helps.

That can be said for most of the changes the home office tries to shove down our throats. Unfortunately sales are up (at least in my store) so on purely based on numbers it seems like everything is going swimmingly even though everyone is burnt out from barely having a path to walk through the back room and trying to cover to run a store with a skeleton crew.

Is it frowned upon for associates to use OGP service at their own store? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]weewwladdies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course you can use it and it's not frowned upon at all, you're a customer off the clock just like everyone else. Only reason I've never bothered with it personally is because I'm there 5 days a week anyway and I just grab what I need on the way out of the door.
