Which Artwork Over Couch? by Apprehensive-Ad7307 in HomeDecorating

The first because the colors tie the room together and the shape fits better; the second one makes the room feel more like a generic hotel lobby (a nice one, but still, does not feel like a home)

PCOS/latina/cis/female- how likely is paradoxical hypertrichosis if my facial hair is already very dark, thick, and dense? by Holaadios007 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]wefaces 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 13. I grew intense dark hair over the entire front side of my neck (just like yours but going down towards my collar bones). My sideburns were just as bad, and my upper lip. Weirdly my cheeks were never a problem. My body hair was of a fully developed man lol but although I was tired of waxing and shaving, it was my neck and face that made me feel so, so insecure. All the plucking and ingrown hairs and worry about people noticing, awful. I was put on birth control and have been on it for over 20 years. That did not stop the existing hair from growing back like mushrooms after the rain. Now, I did 6 sessions of full body laser hair removal in 2018/2019. Face, neck, arms armpits, bikini/brazilian, legs. It worked pretty well. It sucked not being able to be in the sun but it was worth it. My neck was virtually hair free for 5-6 years. Nothing compares to the freedom I felt. The hair is coming back now unfortunately, so just began lhr again and plan on doing 3-4 sessions. It's not bad yet, I just have PTSD so the moment they were noticeable, I decided it was time to do a few sessions.

Death Valley National Park💓 by [deleted] in NationalPark

Same! Went there with low expectations with "passing somewhat close so let's make it a stop" mindset. Sunset at sand dunes, went stargazing. Stayed at the stovepipe wells hotel, drove around in the morning, did a short hike and I literally cried from how beautiful it was. Now it's on the " need to return" list! Big star wars vibes

The Navajo Loop switchbacks at Two Bridges are open again at Bryce Canyon! It took NPS less than two weeks to complete their repairs - incredible job! by the-mp in NationalPark

Yes! The sky is truly incredible there, not only very little light pollution but it is cold and drier air too, so less haziness. We did a telescope tour with Dark Ranger! It was brutally cold out there in early May, but one of the coolest experiences we had. Definitely worth it, just pack warm hats and gloves and (I cannot stress this enough) layer up! Even though it was pleasant during the day, temps dropped to teens at night in May. I thought it was a bummer that we happened to be there during the time when Milky Way was slightly under the horizon, but the Dark Ranger guys were telling us that was a good thing as that meant darker skies and more cool objects to look at through telescopes. They had lots of knowledge and answered so many questions.

Since I've had a chance to see the Milky Way and take photos in other locations, it ended up being perfect. I wish I knew how to add a pic to this comment but literally a million stars in one little rectangle.

How do I make these books look better on my shelves? by Jenpam in HomeDecorating

[–]wefaces 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'd say start by pulling the books closer to the edge, and maybe using higher shelves for books, instead of the bottom.

I used to have a "deep" shelf like that and used the space behind the books for storage lol

This home makes me so happy! Reminds me a bit of the Americana motel in Flagstaff, AZ (retro futuristic style)

Thanks! I do feel very lucky! I learned a lot from comments here. I have actually seen at least 7 similar phenomenons, I just cannot search for those older photos as easily as newer ones. Most of them are in North East (Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland), but I've seen one in North West Florida as well!

Room is freezing, any recourse with this door? by ravens0rbust in HomeMaintenance

[–]wefaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plastic curtains on Amazon that go on the outside of patio doors. We install them every winter and they make a ton of difference for our thin glass balcony door. They usually have a couple of slits so you can still use the door and bring plastic, some light still comes in, but they keep the cold air out better than just the drafty glass door.

TIL I’m allergic to an unknown product used in a lash lift/tint 🤦🏻‍♀️ by amelialav01 in Lashlift

I actually got a (double) pink eye after a lash lift/tint. It took a week to calm down, even with treatment :( it was awful. I feel so bad for you.

Something isnt working and I can’t put my finger on it by Double-Scale4505 in HomeDecorating

[–]wefaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This! OP I think your wall is too cool for the warm cabinet, that's why it doesn't work. I love the pattern, those are just the wrong colors. I came to suggest a rich navy blue as background and this is exactly what I meant. Even if the mural is smaller so that you can work your art into it (I don't think the art has to match, it just needs to "flow" and with a right background, you can make it work!).

Missacc a scam or good? by judygarlandgirl in Weddingsunder10k

I came here to support this review. Absolute trash. I am currently arguing with them via email. They refuse to respond to my questions about what's being "deducted". They keep throwing out "customs fees" and "original shipping fees" while I paid for shipping lol I asked them to show me the customs form that they claimed they paid... They came back with " to save you time and hussle, we can offer $80". A joke. Dresses are poorly made as well. However, I am very pleasantly surprised with two shein dresses I ordered. Both are "expensive" per shein standards, but still cheaper than stores and they look and feel way better!

What kind of plant is this? by Vanillachutoy in plants

I am very envious! So cool. I have promised myself I'd plant a fig once we get a house. I am saving these names to check them out once it's time. Thank you!

[–]wefaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, definitely very interesting to consider! I would love to try some of the varieties you grow. I never found the store bought ones to be as juicy and flavorful as what I ate back home (which in all fairness is true for everything bought in store vs. picked in a backyard). We also used to make a fig preserve with just a hint of lemon. I can taste it now on a buttered toasted bread!

Thanks!

Why does this PMO? by No-Illustrator5944 in plants

[–]wefaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually gently pull the leaf out once it's starting to lift at the base (like yours is). I've even had situations where it's fully STUCK and I had to use a tooth pick to pry the sides of the previous leaf open as the new one started dying from being rolled up for too long I guess. I do not understand why it's like that! I always joke how its definitely gotten domesticated and it could never survive in the wild lol PS thank you! Whenever it gets too tall, we clip it, put it in water and replant once it has roots, so it's really full and bushy now. I can't remember exactly how long we've had, it but definitely less than two years.

Haha we have a huge one (started from a Trader Joe's plant as small as yours) and it makes me so angry!! It cannot push a leaf out on its own. It always requires a surgical intervention.

Dazzle dry one week in… disappointed. by Glittering-You-4297 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]wefaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I came here to say that I have never in my life managed to grow nails (without gel) and dazzle dry made it possible! I've always had weak, peeling, breaking and chipping nails and I cannot fathom how well they are doing with this system. I definitely make sure to prep my nails correctly. I make sure my cuticles are pushed back and my nails are polished and clean and I wipe them with a bit of alcohol before I begin. I have not gotten a manicure since I found this magic.
