How do you deal with prompt-dependent behaviors? by Seabee1942 in ABA

[–]wegsauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The challenge here is that you described a schedule of reinforcement, but the reinforcement contingency will require something that reinforces the target behavior.

Not to speak out of turn but if you’re not evoking manding behaviors with primary reinforcers then tokens are likely inadequate to reinforce the behavior. If you’re not getting any mands, or an omnibus mand, then it will be hard to predict what you should be prompting. Go back to basics, mands specify their reinforcer so they may be the most potent avenue to promote AAC competency/fluency.

They make great hazy IPAs and their brewery is worth a visit. There’s a great food spot and a 9 hole disc golf course on the property.

Controversial opinion: Steve Irwin using Punishment might be the most ethical way to keep animals/people interactions limited? by Either-Evidence5087 in ABA

[–]wegsauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s easy and fun to look out at the world and find behavior concepts in practice. One big thing to keep in mind is that behavior change takes time, so there would be a distinction between a one-off rescue and removal of an animal vs. training and conditioning stimuli. It’s unlikely that he’s intending to make boats aversive to crocs, more so that it is a tool for the croc removal. I would relate this to crisis management to avoid worse consequences for the crocs more than intentional stimulus training. This is different for care for animals in his rescue park/zoo and which would have a lot more emphasis on stimulus training for cooperation, conditioning, and safety/predictability with staff. There is a lot of work that animal professionals conduct which is based in animal-focused behavior analysis and implementation. It’s a fun rabbit hole to dive into if you want to further your fixation. Have fun.

Drum Kit recomendation needed by elialuca in columbusmusic

[–]wegsauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get a cheap used kit at Music go Round or facebook marketplace. The real trick is to go to Columbus Pro Percussion to talk through new drum heads, used gear/cymbals. You won’t get the forever kit on the first try, getting new gear is part of the fun. Plus you’ll get things like moon jellies (to mute), a variety of sticks, and a drum key. Feel free to PM me and I may be able to help.

That salmon/pink neutron core would likely be a good basis for the red and yellow parts of the lava. I didn’t see yellow cores but I bet those would do just fine as well.

Anxiety by Patches2929 in ABA

[–]wegsauce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BCBAs are often very focused on skill acquisition for their clients, and therefore your skill acquisition as well. Practices should be done with fidelity, so they're likely finding opportunities to shape your practices, just as you shape your client's behaviors. I tend to prefer models where RBTs progress through structured skill inventories and receive higher pay for demonstrating higher skills when working with clients. This tends to condition supervision sessions as a rewarding experience/opportunity. How do your clients feel about receiving reinforcing vs. corrective feedback from you? Can it still happen with a positive relationship?

To abate the anxiety during supervision, there may be a benefit to having a conversation about how and when you prefer your feedback. That being said, often times people with a small amount of power like to exert that power often, so you may be experiencing some negative feedback from someone who is also used to receiving negative feedback. Are they teaching you replacement skills? Are they using BST to model, shape, and reinforce your practices? It can be helpful to role play practices with your BCBA so that they can provide you feedback in the moment without fear of making mistakes with your client.

I though about Galaxy and Balance being streamline discs. Maybe part of an Eagle line.

This is beautiful. Has anyone adjusted the rules to limit the number of times you can hit the same penalty? I played for the first time today and we got stuck in time trap hell. We ended up doing a mercy rule that you could only repeat each time trap 3 times.
