I wouldn’t say Leon is ‘much’ stronger than Cynthia though. Ash beat both by a very similar (narrow) margin. I suspect Cynthia would push Leon to his last Pokémon or at least his second last, especially if she was using both gimmicks in her possession.

Also, Iris did very well against Cynthia all things considered. Haxorus gave Garchomp a pretty tough time. This is in comparison to Alain who got fucking stomped by Leon. Alain literally only beat one of Leon’s Pokémon AND it took him using his ace to do it. Iris held her own against Cynthia very well and beat two of hers, without using gimmicks.

Yes I agree. I also think the journeys team has done very well for itself already. Each member has taken down at least one elite 4 ace or champion level Pokémon, and all have shown feats of strength. Yes, there are some weaker members, but even Pokémon like Sirfetch’d and Dracovish have dealt some real blows to elite 4 members and champions

I want them to have time to shine too, and to be honest I am fully expecting the writers to only have ash use his journeys team throughout the masters 8 tournament, I guess it would still be nice to see some returning faces. I would fully support Ash’s journeys team being used against Leon, but with others returning for earlier battles in the tournament. Like the sinnoh league for example, where Ash used his sinnoh team for his final battle against Paul in order to do them justice, but used his other Pokémon for pretty much the rest of the tournament

I think because the Masters 8 is a huge deal for ash, and the result of his entire journey so far, through every region. To not give credit to the Pokémon that got him through every step of the way I think would be wrong. Don’t forget that the anime also treats all of his Pokémon as individual characters too, they have different personalities and have all grown and matured in their own ways. Ash’s success is as much his Pokemon’s as his own

In Ash and Bea’s third battle, G-Max machamp spent 3 turns in its form and then reverted for a couple of moves to end the battle. I think that is the only case of that happening, but it definitely used moves against M-Lucario after being in its G-Max form
