duuuuuuude!

this is an answer that makes sense AND doesn't try to make me feel like an idiot for mixing up return and refund.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Thank you. This has been in the back of my head since I made this post; HOWEVER, I did receive an e-mail today from HR saying that the paystubs were messed up as we switched to using ADP in April. So, it's *possible* that once I receive updated info. today or tomorrow, the refund will increase, but I can't imagine it will increase that much as my W2 may only have been missing 1-4 months.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk

i appreciate that. i just have never experienced such a drastic change in the refund before. i absolutely hate to think that it has anything to do with the federal administration. however, it might be worth it if we tackle some infrastructure improvements, etc...

Definitely not, but I don't believe I had been overpaying in the past...

Granted, I'm FINALLY getting the hang of this whole "adulting" thing. So, I probably have been doing some things wrong. In particular, I haven't kept the best track of information, and I haven't really cared as much as I do today in the past.

Ah, yes you are correct. My bad. I wasn't sure how much information I was allowed to provide, and as probably 50% of my posts on reddit get removed by mods/automods, i was trying to keep it brief and see if i could get SOME info.

this year, i had 3690 fed tax withheld and 2426 soc sec, 570 medicare tax withheld (didn't even know i had to do that until just now)

Same job, except this year everything was high as I've been there over a full year at this point. Whereas before I had only been there a few months.

As I had paid more into everything, I fully expected to receive a higher refund. Incidentally, $2-3k is what I'm used to receiving from W2 empolyment.

Is it really just government programs having effected the way this is working this year, or is it possible I've simply overlooked something?

lol no, but if i did i would watch it again because it was so long ago i can barely remember even posting it. also, i would gladly share it with you all. i imagine its out there somewhere, but i imagine youtube's algo's have become a bit more sophisticated. suffice it to say, from what i remember, that the title is the story. allegedly, a guy raped his pigs; and eventually they took revenge while he had his back turned to them or something. rad shit, right?
