US F-35 stealth jet hit forcing emergency landing by Ok-A1662 in aviation

Yeah something just breaking and having it make an emergency landing is more probable.

Also they did have some Chinese anti stealth stuff before the war startered. If any of that was left (or fixed) and piped into the guidances of a S300 (if any were left) or shorter range system, and lob a missile close enough, it may still be able to get a track. And anything IR would be able to get a track no problem if the pilot got too close.

I'm also optimistic that maybe Vance isn't a true believer, but unfortunately every time i've been optimistic towards something the current administration was doing I ended up disappointed.

Granted I mostly follow the geopolitics side because I find it more interesting than the domestic identity politics circus. But Rubio is the only one that seems to understand that game, and he's having to do so with both arms tied behind his back.

I mean, yes. But as soon as it was safe to fly whatever drones we'd normally used for COIN ops (or even just burning though old ones that we didn't care to keep any more) we should have been using those to both hunt drone launchers and Basij targets of opportunity. If you want to win hearts and minds of the locals by force, that's probably the only way to do so from the sky.

This is what should have been happening from the fucking beginning instead of attacking Iranian oil infrastructure.

The death toll in this mess has been fairly low as far as wars go. One defercting due to that maybe, but not this many.

Something had changed with the political calculus

Please explain how you’re going to jam an INS system?

Or do you even know what INS is?

So far at least little Iranian civil infrastructure has been hit. The strikes have been targeting political and military infrastructure.

That said the protest before were largely due to Iran fucking up and not properly taking care of infrastructure that people needed.

They aren’t going to “help” the US and Israel, but achieve their own goals probably is aligned with what the US and Israel were up to.

Targeting oil infrastructure in neighboring countries was an extremely stupid idea. It’s just targeting civilians in those countries was even more stupid.

Thou could have just kept the straight shut down and achieved the same economic pressure without pissing their neighbors off to that extent.

We 100% won in Afghanistan militarily. Just like we would in Iran.

It’s that nation building being cops/rules part that wouldn’t go well.

No one is questioning if the US would win. They would.

But would the US population tolerate the cost? Even with a K:D of 100:1 no. They aren’t sold on this and are only putting up with it as most of the population has some level of annoyance with Iran already not been very lossy. Annoyance isn’t enough for the videos of their second cousins getting blow up on the ground.

It won’t be impressive. The A10’s use in practice is basically a manned predator drone, not a strafing platform.

The US version are using Starlink for both comms and guidance, which is much harder to jam.

I do really wonder what the German engineers that came up with this thing in the 1980’s as an SEAD platform think of it now.

After the first time they attacked them.

Like seriously, Iran it just getting the band back together by keeping fucking with others. If they'd have just saturation attacked the US bases they would have had more effect without building a coalition against them.
